What a farm frendly environment. Neat, and you want to be there. Great food. Great service and the atmosphere you had me hooked. Feels like my home away from home. Parking: Structured places for disabled, family parking, and also places for trailers and caravans.
The worst sausage roll I have ever eaten in my life! It was cold, cold fatty sausage meat is horrible. Went back , waited a time that it can be heated and it tasted even more horrible! Inside the dough was doughey/raw. We travel once a year, and previously stopped there, every stop disappointed. Never again.Food: 1/5
One stop we always make, and I mean ALWAYS. Easily the best pies in SA - I would highly recommend you try them if you’re only stopping to refuel. Otherwise, you’ll never go wrong with The Windmills Kitchen - the food is freshly made and flavourful: try their bunny chow and burgers.
The customary stop off on the way to the Berg at The Windmills Kitchen. The Windmills Kitchen offer fresh food preparation & great variety of options, snacks & treats as well as a delicious cup of coffee among other refreshments. The gardens are as pristine as one can imagine and a walk around taking in the view of the Midlands is a must do. Bonus: best statue on their little pond.
Food is absolutely amazing. Giant meals, real value for money.Food: 5/5
A nice alternative to the main chainstores along the route from JHB to DBN. Food and service was good and atmosphere relaxed. Ideal place to take a pause and refresh when traveling.
Staff is very friendly and tries their best to fulfill your requests, their food is mostly good however the quality of the bunny chows and curries has deteriorated which is disappointing... The atmosphere is lovely with beautiful scenery and peaceful gardens and walks
The Windmills Kitchen is such a hidden gem! We stumbled apon it by accident in 2021 and now make a point to stop whenever we get the chance! I absolutely love the industrial farmhouse kitchen look and feel! The staff are really friendly and helpful! The cappuccino is excellent! Rich and creamy! Honestly better than Wimpy Coffee! We had the Pepper Steak Pie which is served with chips and gravy! Beautiful handcut chips, the gravy has a nice rich meaty flavour, the pie... well the pie is the highlight of our visit! The pastry is delicious, the steak is soft and melts in the mouth, the flavour is plentiful! The pastry to filling ratio is perfect! By far the best pie I've EVER eaten! They have such a lovely shop section that has the most amazing jams! They also sell frozen pies with cooking instructions! Definitely picking some of those up on our way home from honeymooning in Margate to try when we get home!
I think I went on the wrong day, Waiters changed three times before coming to take an order. The lady who took our order seemed to have had a bad long weekend, not interested at all. I ordered a toasted cheese and it was as if the chef also had a rough long weekend. Check out the toasted cheese I ordered. The manager adamant that there was nothing wrong with the order. Everything made to portion, his words. Clearly he too had a bad long weekend. NEVER EVER AGAIN!!!!
Awesome place pies are fresh n delicious. The Chelsea buns are superb very clean and staff super helpful and professional. Would rate it a solid 10/10.Food: 5/5
