The ladies who work here are the only reason that I've allocated any stars to this spa. They are an amazing team and went out of their way to make this experience close to enjoyable. The spa itself, on the other hand, left much to be desired. Arrival drinks included coffee or tea only. So much for feeling welcome on a cold morning - not even a little biscuit to go with it, let alone a decent cuppa joe. Please note that I had booked a full day for 2 so this should have been the best package available. We drank our Ricoffy possibly and headed to the first treatment. Load shedding kicked in and alas there was no chance of gas heaters. Another group cut short their session due to the cold. By the time we got to lunch, we were hungry enough to eat the sandwiches provided. These consisted of 3 slices of white bread, a slather of tuna and a slice of cheese. I found this pretty inadequate coming from a health spa. Drink options were again limited to coffee, tea or a concentrated juice mix. I was told that this is the standard menu - irrespective of load shedding. Thankfully the power returned just as we concluded "lunch" and were able to enjoy the hot stone massage and facial. As brilliant as the service was, I would not return nor recommend this place to anyone.
We booked for mothers day 13/05/18, and my sisters' birthday. In total we were 5 people. After reading the bad reviews on the website, I was told the reason some of the people were saying they were rushed out of their rooms because they came late for their spa day, and were late in commencing their treatments after they opted for welcome drinks. I decided to give them the benefit of the doubt. So our appointment was for 10am and we rocked up at 9.30am. We were offered drinks, of which we chose coffee. it was 45 minutes later that we were still waiting for the coffee, as the milk was still on its way ! In this time they could have asked us to choose which colour nail polish we were going to use. If I had clients on a Sunday, I would have ensured the day before that I was prepared for them. Finally we were taken to our rooms at 10.50.am There were only 4 therapists. Apparently one was still on her way. During manicure and pedicure, I had to ask the therapist to move back the cuticles, and buff the nails. it was as if they were picked off the street to service us that day.There was only one heater which was carted from room to room. Lunch was 2 slices of cheese and tomato as we do not consume ham. Bottle concentrated juice was served. I think if its too much to offer then perhaps it should have been told to the clients to bring their own lunch, as it was a whole day event and only 2 slices were offered ! The only upside to this day was the therapist / receptionist Fortunate who tried to co- ordinate everything. When the 5th therapist Palesa finally arrived after 12, she was so thin and when asked for a hard massage, she pressed so hard that she was shivering. It was then suggested that she attend to the facials. There also she had to be directed on how to do a facial. All we could hear were whispers and actions on how to or not to do something. My sister had to use a maternity bed, and it was very uncomfortable. I couldn't understand why 5 people had to be attended to in one room. The next day my daughter burst out with a severe skin irritation. On enquiring, I was told that the sponge that is used for the facials are used on about 3 clients, and not a new one for every client. I asked for the owner Michelle to call me since Monday 14/05/18, and to date I have not heard from her. I am quite the enthusiast where spa days are concerned, and I have been to a few in the like of Mangwanani, Bayete, Kai Thai, Sense Day Spa, and this was by far the worst experience of my life. I will definitely not suggest , nor refer Theunellle to any one. Rather spend a little more, and get quality instead of offering so many treatments and each is of a poor quality.
The massage was good however the pedi and mani was a nightmare the lady cut my nails too deep and soaked my nails too long, burnt my hand with the rock that was too hot and never spoke a word to me at all, a huge disappointment. However I do feel the need to point out the one lady, Audrey, who was fantastic, laughed with us and gave us great service.
Massages are very good. Just need to be punctual with appointments. Can give customers a much better lunch.
