ABOUT LORNA
Born in Umtata in the Eastern Cape, South Africa, Lorna was lucky enough to spend a few years in Moscow, Russia where she was able to study sculpture with Vadim Kirillov, a prominent and famous Russian sculptor.
Many different art teachers, including a mosaic workshop run by Martin Cheek of England, have had a huge influence on her art in one way or another. Copper beating, wood carving, wedding cake decorating, fabric painting, watercolour, oil painting and mixed media have helped her style and eye for colour, craftsmanship and expertise.
AWARDS
Lorna won a second place award with a mosaic inspired by a famous Portchie painting (a renowned South African artist) in competition held by the Mosaic Association of South Africa (MASA).
Lorna also obtained two "Highly Commended" awards for the figures "Waiting Patiently" and "The Boyfriend".
CHARITY
In 2015, Lorna hosted a "Butterfly Workshop" in her studio on behalf of MASA. Mosaic crafters had to pay a small fee to mosaic a butterfly for the "Little Fighters Cancer Trust" charity.
The top 20 butterflies were chosen by public vote. Lorna's East London team had a grand total of 11 butterflies in the top 20 (including 3 of Lorna's own work).
The top 20 were auctioned off to raise further much needed funds for the charity and the hundreds of the remaining butterflies are now being used to decorate halls and entrances to oncology wards throughout South Africa where children with cancer are treated.

ART ON COMMISSION
In the past, Lorna has been commissioned to make paintings, house numbers, business sign boards, swimming pool designs, built-in-mirrors and decorative feature walls.
