Tina Skukan Gallery and Tea Garden

Description

● The Tina Skukan Gallery is situated on one of the last remaining smallholdings in the suburb of Faerie Glen, Pretoria,
which originated out of the former Valley Farm smallholdings.
This incredible landmark secretly tucked away in the heart of suburbia forms part of the Bronberg Nature Reserve.
The owner, Thea Nigrini, who has been residing on this four hectare holding for the past 50 years, adapted the old barn twenty years ago to house a gallery for contemporary art and craftwork.
● This art & nature lover's paradise hosts monthly exhibitions of established and professional artists. Cultural activities such as artists talks, artists demonstrations, walkabouts and performances are presented during exhibitions of leading
S.A. contemporary artists.
● Adjacent to the gallery are permanent exhibition areas including a scuptural garden which can also be visited.
Works on display include mixed media, acrylics, printmedia, drawings, scraperboard, sculptures, oils, watercolours, enamels and pastels.
● Exhibition openings, with wine and refreshments, take place once a month on a Sunday morning at 11h30.
The exhibition openings, with well-known opening speakers have become a prominent art event that attracts a crowd of art lovers from Pretoria, Johannesburg and surrounding areas.
● Supporting the gallery is The Gallery Connection, a tea garden where visitors can enjoy refreshments and light meals in a rustic country atmosphere. Geese, ducks and chickens that freely roam the farmyard contribute to the enviroment's atmosphere of tranquility and serenity. The Gallery and Tea Garden are being visited by people all over the world.

What a lovely place! Rustic and very original. Exquisite forest like environment. It's like going on a little holiday. Outside it's quiet and tranquil. The food is fresh and delicious. Staff are friendly and professional. There is also an amazing art gallery with beautifully diverse art, sculpture and ceramics for sale. Definitely a must see if you are in Pretoria.
An Art Lover's paradise. A hidden gem in the middle of suburbia. Great home cooked food items with a Lamb and Chicken pie at the top of the 'must try' list. The atmosphere is calm. Get away from the city buzz and spend the morning at the farm house experience. Great venue for kitchen teas and a morning brunch.
Tina Skukan Gallery is nestled against the Bronberg, and when you are seated outside the coffee shop, you'll find yourself underneath the green canopy of big, beautiful trees. The 'stoep' of this old farm building is intriguingly decorated to make you feel right at home!! The big surprise lies in the HOME COOKED meals, cakes and tarts, served with great coffee, teas etc. The fireplace in the winter invites you right in, to sit down and order great soup with homemade bread!!!!! The gardens are well kept and there are interesting places to sit down and order. The 2 Galleries are always stocked with new exhibitions where people from as far as Australia place orders which are shipped to them. Tia is the charming owner and a absolutely great hostess - one of the best cooks I have ever met!! I love, love, love this beautiful GEM, where I can just relax and come to my senses!!!
The small Tina Skukan Art Gallery is a real gem. It's worth visiting very often as they change the exhibitions and installations on a monthly basis. The current Spring Equinox exhibition consists of various mixed media by artists such as Michele Nigrini, Haydee Breganski, Angela Banks, and other well known artists. The huge old trees create a relaxing atmosphere where one can sit and enjoy a light meal in the tea garden, ending it off with coffee and a slice of phenomenal Norwegian Custard Cake.
Great setting and Dog Friendly reataurant. Fair is simple but well presented and tasty. Art exhibitions are often held here in support of local artists.. there are a number of small galleries with some interesting local art on sale. The place is supervised by Rex and he is happy to explain the art on display. Well woth a visit in support of local artists.
New and established artists exhibit here in this rustic, in nature, exhibition hall. Exhibition content change on a monthly basis. After your visits to the gallery, why not pop in for a coffee & cake or brunch / lunch in the garden café under beautiful old trees. Can't find more chilled that this.
A lovely space! We spent an afternoon at the tea garden. The venison pie is out of this world, and the dense garden takes one a million million miles away from the city. Truly a place of calm and peace.
Interesting art work. Tea room some what of a dissapointment. Coffee was cold, too little butter for 2 scones and straight from the fridge could not spread, first scones were stone hard had to send it back, next batch better but crumbled to pieces. Too little cheese. Staff was friendly.
What a Disappointment and an Embarrassment on 6 May 2022 it was, especially as it were the first time for my guests.....No one to Welcome and seat us, no staff at all to serve and take our orders, except for one of the owners. Then he told us 'you're lucky if you can get anything', as they were out of food. He was unfriendly, & unmannered. Not at all helpful. Will never return.
Very laid back. An interesting look: somewhere between being unkempt and unpretentious. The food was delicious. Somehow this was a wonderful moment away from the glossy hustle and bustle of the usual places. Will be there again soon.
