Whether you are a designer, inventor, artist, crafter, home DIY’er or a small business, you can bring your project ideas whether whole or incomplete and make them in studio and connect with a network of like-minded people who can motivate and support you.
You get access to a wide range of shared tools, workspace, technical advice, hands-on assistance, and storage, enabling you to design, prototype, and make beautifulobjects. The facilities include woodwork, metalwork, assembly, finishing, sewing, upholstery, and arts & crafts (including mosaics, picture framing,
drawing, painting).
You don’t need to have all the skills - you can learn through practical short courses which aim to provide you with hands-on experience in your area of interest. Or, if you don’t have the inclination to make it yourself, we can get your item made for you by one of the small businesses being developed through the Tool Share incubator.
The participants go through a uniquely designed programme aimed at equipping them to develop ideas, implement them and deliver to a defined market. The Tool Share Incubator is different from other such initiatives as small businesses have the space, tools and the support to think of an idea, make it, market it and sell it in one offering.
In addition, the businesses have access to a range of business support services such as Marketing, HR and Payroll, Access to markets, to ensure they succeed long after they exit the programme.
So users of our facility such as DIYers, inventors, crafters and designers, have access to the small businesses as support labour while working on projects or they can outsource their projects to the small businesses and contribute to job creation in the country. Organisation can earn enterprise development points by investing in the training and mentoring of each business.
We are mindful of the environment and see “waste” as a foundation for great ideas – never mind as cost-effective input materials particularly for the small businesses. We strongly encourage upcycling and repurposing wherever feasible, and use recycled materials in the relevant training courses.
