Have been there so often we’ve lost count. Like coming home but better. When you walk in the door and feel your stresses fall away you know you’re in for a wonderful experience. Nothing could be faulted. The food, accommodation, game drives and massage all add up to make an unforgettable stay.Rooms: 5/5
Had an amazing experience at this lodge. Managed to see 4 of the Big 5 during the game drives and loved the ‘hide out’ to see the water spot closer. The staff was very helpful and friendly, making the experience a perfect one.
Amazing experience here. The food was amazing. We had a number of game drives and always saw a lot of interesting animals. I was blown away by the luxurious rooms and the possibility of seeing animals while at the lodge. Highly recommend.Rooms: 5/5
Wonderful game drives with knowledgeable ranger, good range of wildlife. An off road drive tracking a lion on the move was a highlight. Stunning lodges with everything you could wish for, yet a relaxed and friendly vibe. Great food and well looked after. Thoroughly recommend the team and the whole experience at Tuningi.Rooms: 5/5
Tuningi is a beautiful lodge with wonderful staff who are all very accommodating. The meals are exquisitely delicious! We had Martin for our four game drives and he was amazing! He provided interesting information about every animal we saw and put in great effort to track animals so that we could see all of them! We highly recommend this lodge and would definitely return if given the opportunity!
The worst part about this place is having to go home afterward. I teared up as we were driven to the air strip. Seriously. The Short Review... The Tuningi Safari Lodge was an amazing experience and a must do for anyone interested in a safari trip. The staff, the scenery, the food, and the tours blew all expectation out of the water. The Long Review... First and foremost, the staff are incredibly kind, personable, and knowledgeable. By the end of the second day, they knew our names and what we liked to eat and drink. Our field guide was Gavin. His immense knowledge of the area and the animals lead to some great conversations and some up-close encounters with many of the animals. Martin, another guide, was also great in taking care of everyone and had a few witty lines that kept everyone laughing. The food was incredible. We did not have a bad meal. I was as adventurous as possible and ordered just about anything that looked new to me and every single bite was delicious. Don't even get me started on the deserts. The lodge its-self is stunning. Picture perfect. They pay attention to everything. The common areas are clean, spacious, comfortable, and tranquil. The pool was refreshing during the hot days and if you are there at the right time, you might just see some animals walk by on their way to the watering hole. The rooms were a great place to escape to after a long day in the bush. THE SAFARI DRIVES!!! I did not really know what to expect and my best advice is to go into it open minded. I say that because you can't really know for sure what you are going to see. So stay curious. We went on six drives and no drive was the same. We loved that. One moment your heart is beating with the excitement of lions singing and watching the African Wild Dogs hunt. The next, you are taking in the sunset near a watering hole watching a family of elephants walk along the bush. Then, suddenly, two rhinos are running next to your vehicle. It truly is a magical experience. I could go on for days about this trip to the Tuningi Safari Lodge but it's best to experience first-hand.
After experiencing a few different resorts and similar properties I decided to write a review for Tuningi. It is the family favorite to date. We received what was advertised. Service was impeccable. It is expensive but it is stunning, service is as to be expected with a place at this price point with all the little touches like the welcome drink and note. COVId protocols excellent as was the food. For my husband’s birthday they made a fabulous cake and had champagne and rose petals and candles in the room after our game drive. The decor is amazing as was the watering hole. Would go again!
Absolutely fantastic, top class holiday. Tuningi really pulled out the stops. Impeccably hosted by Sanmarie, we were treated like royalty for our whole stay. The food was really excellent and this lodge gets all the small things right. For example, nespresso pods replenished twice a day, which is not so common, even though simple. And special roses and champagne on our last night. Another notable feature is the gym - it is perhaps a minority of people who want to exercise while on safari, but being able to do so really made a difference to our enjoyment of the experience. What really stood out was how Sanmarie and Michelle took care of our kids. They really went the extra mile to make sure that they had a great, fun time. And Martin, our ranger, was extremely knowledgeable, laid back and accommodating. He made our kids feel immensely welcome and involved them in every drive; he really contributed to making this a unique experience. I would strongly advise fellow South Africans to take advantage of the poor luck Covid has delivered to our tourism sector and visit Tuningi before the international market eventually floods back in. We want them back, but can take advantage in the meantime. With Tuningi, you definitely won't regret it.
Tuningi is a piece of paradise. The food is truly world class. Heidi is a sensational, caring hostess who made us feel totally at home. The game drive with Gavin was one of the best I've ever experienced. Gavin goes out of his way to find the animals. I enjoyed his knowledge on every animal. We had a phenomenal experience. Thanks very much to all management and staff members at Tuningi safari Lodge
