I was always assisted diligently at SAPS Umbilo, with various situations, some officers were ending shift but stayed on and continued assisting me,I suppose being a policeman/woman is a thankless job,may God bless all policemen/women and keep them safe in their duties.
I was driving home and a car was sitting with it's hazards on and there was a woman inside frantically sms-ing. I pulled over next to her and asked her if she was okay. It turns out that she was an old school friend of my sister's and she had run out of petrol. I told her to stay put and went to the garage to get her some petrol but stopped off at the Umbilo charge office to ask them to send a van to sit with her given the area. There was absolutely no interest whatsoever other than, I'll talk to the captain when he's finished. I left and went to the garage where I got more assistance from the court manager who went out of his way to make a makeshift funnel and told one of the attendants to go with me. I stopped off at the charge office again on the way back and this time there were two vans parked outside so I went in as I didn't feel it would be safe for the three of us to be standing out in the open with two cars for the taking. Again, no interest whatsoever so I left. As I got outside, there was the captain pulling off and when I asked him for literally five minutes as her car was 200m away, he apologised saying he couldn't help me but I must go into the charge office and ask for assistance... Yeah right - I'd just walked out! On getting back to Tracy, she informs me that a van drove past her, slowed down, looked into her car and then carried on driving. Miffed that I had to even rate my experience at all because this deserves no stars but I couldn't publish unless I rated!!!
I need to know where to report because o have just been helped by a rude police officer who even refused to provide me with his name, therefore I need everyone working there on the 05 of January 2017 to take to account my grivience. I need that officer to be disciplined and taught how to communicate with people
Would give it ZERO Stars however it would not show. After the usual hr long wait 3 people ahead of me I was attended to by a man I would have liked to use the word gentleman but he showed none of the character required to be one who had a black tracksuit top on which covered his insignia and badge name. This I am told is a breach of conducts as police on duty must at all time be identifiable. I required an affidavit to be signed, however he had no pen. After bemoaning me for not bringing a pen my mistake I admit he turned his back on me and while walking out the office said "come back when you have a pen". He made no attempt to borrow a pen from a colleague or to assist in anyway. Fortunately I did have a pen in my car which I retrieved and returned , waiting again to be served by another gentleman. As I found this behaviour total unacceptable, I went to the station commander's office to complain. He unfortunately was not in, however his secretary gave me the name of the policeman in charge of the front office. I have to add that the secretary was very helpful and even apologies on behalf of the rubbish that did not serve me. The person in charge of the front office was Capt Naidoo. I returned to the front office and had an audience with Capt Naidoo who dismissed me with 2 quick fire answers 1 You should have brought a pen 2 Go to the Station Commander and tell him to buy us pens. This!!! coming from a Captain in a Police Force who continually tell us that they are here for the community. Like Hell. This station is rotten as born out by the total lack of pride by a senior officer. They dishonour themselves as individuals would hate to have him as a father figure and they dishonour the Police Service. Given a position of trust they simply abuse it. If they can't track down a pen in a police office, it now makes perfect sense to me why over 12 years they have not been able to clear up the prostitution growing on the streets which has now an epidemic, and which take place within a stone's throw away from the station. It also explains why drunken driving through our suburb is at an all time high when people drink openly in the streets from the boot of their cars outside of Davenport Centre and a petrol station's parking area in our suburb. They simply don't care. Have no honour and have no pride. The sad thing is they take this home to their families where they infect them with their sad rotten attitude and then bring it back to the Police Station again to infect those fresh young recruits all primed to do good only to find that no good exists at their police station. SHAME ON YOU.
