Union Buildings

Description

Beautiful place, nice architectural style, nice sculptures, beautiful gardens and well maintained, everywhere is clean. Entrance is free during weekdays until Friday 18:00, no access is allowed on weekends to walk around. Nice place for a picnic, date, chill with friends, kids and family, beautiful views and fresh air.
Well manicured gardens and you are able to drive up to the buildings and park really close. Security is tight and you aren’t able to get into the amphitheater which is expected. You can park and walk down to the Nelson Mandela statue which is a hit with all the tourists. Watch out for the water sprinklers they do catch the stairway. Majestic and stunning buildings.
As everyone has mentioned, the gardens are really beautiful and well kept! With many photo/selfie opportunities. There are informative boards which help you to see what you are looking at, all around the grounds, and give some background. Absolutely worth the visit, the view over the city is beautiful, and you can drive over the mountain and see the city from the other side as well. The Khoisan aka "Aboriginal embassy" are still camping out at the bottom next to Mr Mandela's statue, they have been there since 2018. You can meet them and hear their stories, which is intense, but insightful.
This place is one of the famous and historic place in Pretoria. The building is still working. There is big statue of Nelson Mandela.
No entry fee is required. The upper area is well maintained. The garden is beautiful to be around. It’s a perfect place for a picnic or just “sight seeing”. The view of the city & the sunset from there are beautiful as well. There are a couple of photographers who will want to take pictures of you, but they won’t harass you. There are also a couple of homeless people/beggars who will ask for your food. There aren’t many security guards so it’s advisable to come in groups, always beware of your surroundings and stay safe.
Beautiful manicured lawns, a giant statue of our late struggle hero President Mandela, awesome view of the city, very clean and tidy. Designed and built by Sir Herbert Baker
Beautiful place to visit with a stunning view of parts of Pretoria. It's easily accessible from different directions. The gardens are well maintained. But wow, the toilets stink. I hope they've improved since the last time. It's a shock to be surrounded by so much beauty and history, and get hit by the smell of dirty toilets. It's a disgrace. There's such a nice vibe here and for a moment you feel part of history as your eyes drink in those beautiful surroundings and the massive statue of Madiba. I love going there.
2 entrances Free entrance Free parking Lots of beautiful backgrounds for your pictures There are photographers who charge R20 per pic and often offer you one free of charge Beware of your surrounding if coming in or leaving through the park.
It's a Parliamentary Building of SA,it have very beautiful Garden with a great maintenance on it.Its a historical place. You can drive all the way up and park your car there and see each building nicely.
Nice views of Pretoria and all its splendour from the hilltop at the union buildings. The place is quite laid back, huge, and has some incredibly well kept lawns with bright flowers especially towards the top. The views and scenery make for nice photo opportunities, kudos to the caretakers. At the top, you'll be able to find ample parking for your vehicle, even though it'll be in the glaring Pretoria sun. Warning though, be careful for yourself and your belongings if you play around the park during the early evenings and night especially if alone. Mugging here is very common, as they target people accessing free public wifi.
