It was my second order for a birthday cake. The designs of both cakes were spot on. However, the first one was too sweet that we had to throw it away. On the second one I specifically asked that it should not be too sweet but unfortunately it was too sweet again and we couldn’t eat it. When we raise it with the establishment we were told that the sponge that they use is a balanced recipe and that if they reduce sugar it becomes too dry. It was suggested that we remove icing on the outside and eat the inside, but unfortunately even the sponge was too sweet and we couldn’t eat it. I think one has to stick with their scones considering that they use balanced recipe that they can amend.
I have been a customer of Veros for many years - since she started her business in her garage at home and still. Did deliveries to homes . I have always had good quality tasty scones , then she added biscuits and muffins - I’ve orders cakes when she added them and been very happy with the service and quality . When it’s busy over weekends some times you do have to wait for orders but overall it’s the best thing that happened to joburg for scones khanyi
I had a horrible experience. I ordered 3 buckets of assorted biscuits and got 2 buts with 3 flavors and 1 bucket with 2 flavors. After much complaining they exchanged one bucket but didn't even bother to fill it all up. Extremely bad service. Never again .
I am very happy with Vero's cakes. I ordered a cake for my nieces birthday party and I had never been there nor used their services. I emailed my order and made the payment, and two days before the collection day I confirmed the date and time with them, they advised it was all good. Got there, my cake was perfect to the tee, it was exactly like the picture I had sent them, the cupcakes had exceeded my expectations as they customized them when I had asked for plain ones. The lady who was packing the cake for us, offered to even put the cake in the car for us. I am grateful for their good work. Plus, it tasted amazing and it was fresh.
Consistently the worst customer service! I gave them chance after chance in the 8+ years I've ordered scones from them and with each encounter I'd promise myself it would be my last. Very disorganized! Order beforehand but still have to wait for an hour+ at times to get your order. The one time they gave me warm scones because they just could not wait any longer to have them cool down - these were for my niece's wedding and by the time I got home, a quarter of them had crumbled from the heat! The front staff AND manager behave like they are doing you a favour; very unfriendly and impatient. I would NEVER recommend them to anyone despite them offering the best scones I've tasted.
I love how light, moist and tasty their cakes are BUT disappointed with my most recent order. It was nothing like I requested. They apologized and said they had a funeral to attend and couldn't get the dye colour. I was understanding but it would have been better if they called ahead of time and given me the option to proceed or not. Then when eating cupcakes we noticed they also didn't give us the flavors ordered. Very disappointing. Great success with them over the years but from recent reviews and my experience clearly something has changed
As stated by one of the reviewers.... the cakes are good but for me, not worth the poor customer service. They really should change the person who is customer facing- the biggish tall lady at the till is the reason this gets a poor rating. No scones are good enough to offset poor service. Oh and by the way, scones are good but cakes are a miss.... Also- prices are now way too high. Not worth it...
The customer service is what we are forced to get used from black businesses - terrible. The lady at the till clearly doesn't want to serve people. The short lady who sold me the ginger beer was alright. But this was the first and last time I ever buy anything from this place.
The scones were good and fresh. But the cashier lady does not have any customer orientation at all! She is hostile and unfriendly.
Cakes and scones are very tasty!! Thank you Vero.
