Having been here before I knew what to expect, a pleasant experience, which was had. Came on a weekend and the mall was packed but was lucky to find a table for lunch. The entire deco is spot on, love the over hanging lights. The food was exceptional. I must admit, prices where a bit on the higher side but I guess you're paying for great service and food. I'll give them an overall rating of 9/10.
This is my new breakfast spot. Walnut Grove offers a buffet breakfast on Saturdays maybe Sundays too for R159 per person, excl. hot beverages. I absolutely enjoyed the food. Don't get me started on the pancakes. The asthetic of the whole restaurant is truly pleasing. And the servers were truly helpful. Highly recommended!
The service was quick. Staff was very friendly. The cakes I bought were moist and delicious with extremely generous portions that I failed to finish a portion in one sitting. Sadly I had a trolley so had to have takeaway since there was no way to go upstairs with it. I'd recommend visiting Walnut Grove and I will definitely be going back when next in South Africa
Today's experience at Walnut Grove was less than average and quiet disappointing. Food was good and loving their sushi menu but service was slow and poor. It took forever to order to get a waiter, for the bill etc etc. Whilst food is good, service was terrible. And it wasn't even that busy
I enjoyed their food. We gave the guy that served us 90 rands he never said thank you rather he asked if that's all we could give him? My friends got upset.
One of Sandton City’s popular restaurants, it was pleasant going back after a long time. Gets super busy during brunch so seating can be a challenge.
Absolutely delicious food & the service was great. The manager was incredibly attentive which was much appreciated! Will definitely order some cake next time!
Since the pandemic started we have been working from home, so I haven't been in the office in over 18 months, hence no trips to Sandton City Shopping Centre I was lucky enough to win a Fan of the month Voucher for Coffee and Cake for 2 at Walnut Grove Sandton City So it was a treat to make a plan to go back to Walnut Grove after all this time, it's amazing how the place has expanded, the last time I was there it wasn't extended all the way to the back. If you haven't been, they are well known for their amazing and delicious looking cakes and have been around longer than what I've been alive We decided to start off with breakfast first before indulging in some cakes, as we we're going shopping afterwardsso knew we would walk off the calories. I had the Spanish Scramble, it hit the spot especially with the Peri sauce on the edges as I didn't taste much chilli in the mix. Three scrambled eggs prepared with garlic, chilli, spicy pork chorizo sausage, mixed peppers, red onions, fresh coriander and Spanish patatas bravas. My sis had the Turkish Poached eggs Two poached eggs, served in a warm thick labneh style garlic yoghurt, drizzled with a burned butter smoked paprika sauce, Aleppo pepper flakes and dusted with za’atar spice and fresh dill. Served with toast of your choice and crispy tortillas. They have a great selection of breakfast items to choose from. My Cappuccino with cream was also great and loved the mini red velvet cupcakes with it. For cakes/desserts there were so many options I mean just look at the pictures I took. I eventually settled on trying their Mille-Feuille and my sister had the Rainbow Cheesecake. Big portions, we definitely could not finish it so took it home. If you want some indulgent food, I'd suggest taking a trip there. And if you lucky enough to get Percy as your waitress and Andrew the Manager on duty, then you are in a for a great experience. They do get rather busy and sadly weekends they do not take bookings. The food is really good and fulfilling, the waiters are friendly and the environment is lovely. Perfect for a warm moment around a nice table. I totally recommend. Small mistake in the order but well caught up.
Let's start with the most amazing waiter that served us and helped the breakfast experience enjoyable. From sanitizing the table to making sure our meals were on point, the friendly banter and his quick alternatives to a special needs diet , our waiter was 100% on point. The hot sauce on the table without you even having to ask sealed the deal as did the little red velvet cupcake that came with tea. Food was good but could have done with a little extra seasoning and crisper bacon. Loved the choices of breakfast breads too!
