It's a very well kept clean train station. The staff are friendly. They have toilets on the main platforms not on the main entrance. There's a Tesco right next to the station where you could grab some snacks before you travel.
As others have commented mind the stairs if you need access. Certainly some would need to allow a minute or so to get up the stairs, so beware last minute runs for the train. Architecturally it's good to examine, particularly from street level. Some intricate details all over the station. Avoid the toilets. Disgraceful and ill-maintained with even basics soap, toilet roll. I'd say use Shrub Hill. Reasonable walk if unremarkable on the way but you get a different appreciation for what Worcester city centre has to offer. Foregate Street is very convenient, however.
If visiting Worcester and you wish to get off in the centre of the city, choose Foregate Street rather than Shrub Hill which is further out. With the latter, its easy to get lost as the signage to centre isn't great. Foregate Street is high up so you will either have to navigate some substantial steps or take the lift.
convenient location right in the city centre. stairs are a bit of a nightmare though
Easy access station, close to the town with regular trains.
I was rather disappointed by the lack of gates. I and undoubtably thousands of other tourists arrived here, in eager anticipation of viewing 4 gates. I left crestfallen after finding no gates whatsoever. Not even Gareth Gates, serenading weary travellers and delighting all who hear him. When i asked for a refund of my entrance fee, they refused because i hadn't been charged an entrance fee. I was aghast and flabbergasted at such a blatant deception, and felt for all the children, pestering their parents to come here expecting the chutzpah of 4 gates only to be greeted by a dark, empty, gateless chasm. I contacted Trading Standards and The Worcester Gate Description Society but neither have responded. I blame the EU. Bring back national service. I remember when it was tuppence farthing for a sixpence and I used to come here when it was all just fields and still have change from 3 shillings. UPDATE - IT would appear that those shameless charlatans at Worcester have duped me once again. Absolutely livid. I recently decided to give Worcester Railways a second chance and payed a visit to the city's other train station. There are NO shrubs on the hill at this station. The bare faced cheek of Worcester. Fleecing rail enthusiasts with their empty promises of gates and shrubs. There was a hill of sorts. More of a mound. If you go there, wrap up warm because the wind comes directly from the Arctic, following an unexplained delay at Reading. Similar to most railway stations in the UK, you'll find a cafe in here which is wonderful, delling tea cakes, fruit cake, crackers, tea, coffee and cress. You do need to get there early as the cafe is open from closes at 07. 00 and closes at 07.10 apart from Thursdays when they close at 07.05 There is a toilet here but if it isn't closed, it will contain a teenage couple, arguing. I think they must have got a new record player. Since they can't agree about whose turn it is to go first with the needle. To save you looking at the timetables, which went out of date before they put them up, use this helpful guide. Platform 1 - Hopelesness Calling at The Bleak Midwinter, Sorrow, Despair and Anguish Platform 2 - Doom Calling at Resentment, Self Loathing, Boredom, and Fear EDIT - I just got back from Oxford Circus. Its not even in Oxford! Not a clown or trapeze artist in sight. I've written to my MP and the Arch Bishop Of Canterbury Tales.
Good location, but always full of chavs and drunks. The constant loud, obnoxious and patronising announcements from the tannoy do my head in, too: as a grown man, I don't need to be subjected to constant health and safety nonsense.
I used my family rail card to take my special needs son out for the day. £7.50 return from Hereford. My son really enjoyed his day out .Drinking tea and watching the trains and people go past. A good experience. A bad experience is the Coventry building society who used a forged mortgage to steal an OAPs home. It caused him to stop eating and taking his medication. He died a scared broken old man. Coventry building society does it really take 10 years to show him the unsigned mortgage he never signed?
Never really designed for the current usage. Often minor delays combined with the track layout can cause knock on delays. Staff are always extremely helpful. Just got to remember they aren't responsible for the delays and cancellations. So please be nice to them. Always good ticket advice and years of knowledge. Could do with a lick of paint... no doubt will get a refurbishment in the coming years.
Functional. Occasional gang attack from ticket collectors at base of stairs.
