Love this place! It's even cuter inside after their expansion. Great spot to grab a coffee or a bite to eat and hang out for a little bit. Highly recommend the croissant and cold brew here. And for the little ones, they have soft serve now! Seating inside and outside is super convenient, as well.
I work next door at the pizza place and its very convenient for me to stop in and grab a snack. I love Greek food so I had to try the Spanakopita and let me tell you that it does not disappoint. For seven bucks and some change you cant go wrong. One of best spinach pies I have ever had. I gave this place five stars because of that spinach pie and the wonderful staff. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for good food.
This place is awesome! The food is delicious and the staff is friendly. My only issue is that I've been here a few times and the prices always change- so depending on who's ringing me I know whether I am going to get an upcharge. I noticed that most of the time I get the same amount charged but one specific person upcharges me all the time. Besides that, the pastries are good. The cakes are a bit too sweet though.
Wow! My husband and I visited and were blown away! If you love European style, high quality bakery type food - you must visit. This is a gem within this location! Feels like you’re in authentic yet modern bakery in Greece!
We order a cake for a baby shower. It was the worst cake that I have ever tried in my life. We tasted a sample but the cake for the baby shower was nothing like it. The cake for the baby shower was super dry with A LOT of buttercream. I’m sorry but please if I try the cake and tell you to make it don’t make me something else please.
It is amazing to have local bakery in the Jefferson Park neighborhood so had to check it out. Glad I did Giannis, the owner, was very welcoming and friendly even gave me a sample of the Lemon Cake to try, very kind. His sweet creations are awesome : Def will come back thank you Giannis!!!
There’s a new Greek bakery and patisserie in town. It is called Zymi and headed up by pastry chef Yannis Tassopoulos. Chef Yanni is a Culinary Ambassador from Greece to the United States and diplomacy has never been so wonderfully delicious! Zymi has all the Greek pastry favorites we have come to know: Baklava, Galaktoboureko, and Bougatsa, to name a few. Your favorite Greek cookies are also on the menu: Melomakarono, Kourambiethes, ect. Let me focus on Koulouria, the famous Greek breakfast treats. A Koulouri coupled with a cup of coffee are the one two punch that transforms one’s morning! These are not the standard Koulouria we are used to in the Greek American diaspora. Instead, Zymi’s Koulouria are soft, fresh loops of thin bread covered with sesame seeds; the type you can see everywhere on a morning Athens commute. These are the real deal! Yes, you can get a great cup of coffee at Zymi too. There is perhaps nothing better than drinking a good cup of Joe, snacking on a dough ring, and perusing the glass cases deciding how you are going to spend the rest of your do re mi. And yet, Zymi is more than just a Greek pastry shop. This brilliant and talented chef has taken Greek pastry one step further with a creative fusion of Greek sweets with American standards. Thus, the Baklava Brownie has been born or the Kataifi Cheesecake! These are just the tip of the iceberg! Zymi will fill special orders and here is where Chef Yiannis shows one of his greatest talents: designing unique cakes. He will work with you to make every special occasion even better with just the right gâteau! Also, when I visited, there were some cakes in the pastry case for those who need one in a pinch. So if you need a cake at anytime there are always some available. I save the best for last! Zymi is now making what may be the greatest Greek dessert: loukoumades! These Summer delights Chicagoans have grown to love by attending the annual Greek Orthodox Parish Picnics are made every Saturday. For those not familiar with this dessert, it can basically be described as fried dough, cascading with molten honey, and sprinkled with chopped nuts. Once you have tried these you will never be able to stop thinking of them! I can keep going on about how great of a pastry shop and bakery this is, but please go and see for yourself! Zymi is one of those places that makes Chicago an even greater town! P.S. I forgot to mention the fresh breads and delicious croissants.
I went to this place after reading good reviews. Unfortunately, my experience was not pleasant. It was very disappointing. The cake was very stale and the strawberries on it were bad. Bought it to serve guests, was embarrassed by how bad it was. They didn’t like it either. The baklava was ok, I’ve had a lot better. I expected to get something fresh, but wasn’t the case at all.
I've been going there since they opened love everything they make haven't had anything bad come out of there as of yet stop by today got a cappuccino a few other things very nice friendly, love this place great addition to the Gladstone Park neighborhood.
This place is great! Delicious treats and the expansion is super nice with seating inside. Went in for Nutella croissants and the owner happily filled some for me since the were out. So sweet!
