Very disappointed. Decent gear, but overpriced. Knowledgeable staff, but poor service. I was happy with my fairly large purchase until I walked out. Before the door closed I remembered that I forgot a small item. Went back to grab the small item quickly, and the man at the counter told me they were closed but I could come back another day. I kindly explained that I lived an hour away and had taken an hour of off work to get there with enough time to browse & purchase before they closed, and wouldn't be able to do that again, especially not for a small item. He insisted that he couldn't help me. He wasn't rushing around trying to close shop, but calmly behind the register. In the time our exchange took, he could have rang up my purchase and left me a happy customer. He chose not to, because I was a minute or two after closing. I plan to cancel my additional online purchase that I made while in the store for the items they didn't have on the shelf, and will not purchase another item from 511 Tactical. Having worked retail, I understand what it's like to need to close, but that was pretty extreme and poor service. Wouldn't recommend. There are other places with similar gear and superior service.
Great gear. Unfortunate in-store experience. I purchased a sale item online after confirming via email that it was returnable. When I went to the Salt Lake store to return it for a different size I was told it could not be returned. Fortunately I was able to easily return the item online and send it back without paying shipping.
Placed an order during the holidays and was very disappointed in not only the customer service but the lack of detail during the ordering process. I used a PO Box for shipping so it wouldn't come to my house and be discovered as it was a gift. I didn't find out that the order was returned to the sender until it was already on the way back because they do not ship to PO Boxes. When I inquired about it they said it does show in the fine print but they still allowed me the enter the shipping address as a PO BOX. I wanted to reorder but wanted the same discount I received when I placed the original order and was told sorry they could only offer me a smaller percentage discount. Very disappointed in the company and lack of detail.
Purchased pants that were on sale unfortunately they did not work out for me, went a couple of days later to return but there fine print got me. Could not return the pants because it’s was on sale. Beware shady business with fine print, Lesson learned.
Bought a pair of pants. 2 days later, tried to return them because they were the wrong size but they wouldn’t return because the tags weren’t on, even though we had the receipt. The customer service was poor and such a hassle. The receipt said could be returned in 90 days and did not give that stipulation. I do not recommend purchasing there unless you are 100% sure you want to keep the item.
I have a 5.11 headlamp that's so good that I walked in to buy another just like it. While I was there, the lamp I brought in started to unexpectedly flicker. After confirming it wasn't a battery issue, Cameron replaced the lamp to ensure that the problem wouldn't recur. 5.11 really stands behind their products, and the people of the SLC store couldn't have been nicer.
Great products, been buying their products since 2017, wore them for work and casual events. My main complaint is, the in-store customer service, they will constantly ask if you need help.
This place is great! They pretty much have everything the online store has, we were just browsing they're awesome inventory and ended up buying 200 bux worth of stuff! They have all the cool patches you can think of. Store is nicely stocked and neat, very clean and the employees were just super helpful and awesome! Answered all our questions and endsome. We'll be coming back for more for sure! 5 stars all the way!

Our Crossfit box had a guys night out to 5-11 to get plate carriers for workouts. Cameron was very helpful and explained all of the features of the carriers. He showed us how to adjust them add pouches to the vests. He kept the store open late to take care of us and even took this picture. I work in law enforcement and I use a lot of 5-11 gear and I am never disappointed in the quality of not only the products but also the customer service that the staff provides.
