55 West Garage

Where do l start... 55 West is a high-rise apartment. 32 floors of luxurious, pretentious, protected living in excess. However, the garage is literally the dungeon to 55's castle. The garage is public access, and totally unsecured to anyone on foot. The place is straight-up dangerous. I used to do security there and it is a dumping ground. Trash, vomit, excrement, various types of waste and dangerous materials like glass are everywhere. There are multiple news articles online about police doing drug raids there. Altercations occur almost daily, with even the occasional shooting later at nite. Until recently, there was an unlocked and dimly lit utility hallway on the 3rd floor that was an unapologetic den of iniquity. Needles on the floor, piles of feces, cigarette butts, chairs and blankets showed signs of regular activity. Often times, vagrants would be sitting in the shadows getting high or passed out. The attitude in this garage is very Devil-may-care, and employees do not want to be bothered or become involved in anything other than the cashiers taking your money. Even COPS can hardly be bothered to help when you have a problem. lf you park here during an event like a Magic game, most spaces will be taken up by tour vans, huge trucks and people who just do a terrible job of parking. Watch out for serious pent-up road rage from other drivers, as cars repeatedly follow each other into the wrong exit lane by mistake, causing enormous traffic jams. Come to this garage prepared, or you could end up having a long, rough night.

The service at the ticket booth was horrible! Asked an attendant upon entry about a store located in the area and she dismissed my question and said ask someone when you get in the shopping area. Also the manager was very RUDE! We lost our ticket and when I asked the manager about the lost ticket policy she yelled No Exceptions without even addressing my concern! I understand the policy but as a manager there should be some professionalism! If I could give a "0" I would!!

Tough space to maneuver. Close to everything but there are easier garages to park in.
