88 Oriental Market

My trip went really well. They have pretty good prices on sweets and other snacks. I got a 10 pack of cakes for a dollar and some change. They are actually pretty good. They are also a little bit more healthy. Many of their items don't have sugar but actually taste good. You can find a wide range of foods and ingredients too. It was over all a great experience.

My family and I have been a patron of 88 Oriental for several years. We like buying tofu there among other Chinese ingredients. But after today, we are never shopping there again. Long story short, we were extra for an item we didn't buy. No problem - I thought, we'll just let the owner know. But when I mentioned this to him - pointing out the mistake on the receipt, he curtly stated - "There is nothing I can do for you. If there was a mistake, you should have told me before you left the store". I reminded him that we had called him after we got home to let him know of the error. He simply refused to listen "People tells me this all the time. I can't stay in business if I deal with every complaint". Having being a long-time patron of over 5 years, it was infuriating being treated like someone who is trying to take advantage of the store. They just lost a loyal customer and all of our future business - all over a $1.30 tofu.

I'm originally from Hawaii and I've been missing mochi ice cream and manapua (steamed, meat filled buns). They have a lot of seasonings that I can't find in regular grocery stores. I stumbled into this place just to browse and it was like stepping back into my childhood. I even stocked up on chopsticks for $2. If you're not familiar with Asian food or cooking, you're probably going to be lost. The people who were working there when I went weren't fluent in English, but they're very friendly.

Nice place, but they charge extra for using a credit card/debit card. This is 2018, they need to get with the times.

Good service, always look forward to shopping here every time I'm in the area. Always new items to discover. Good price, just be careful parking as the parking lot is very small
