Academy Parking lot is an outdoor parking lot and one of the cheapest parking options near Journal Square. They only accept cash, and there are no receipts in case you need to expense the cost. It is a good option if you want to save a buck - but not if you care about security or the well-being of your car. Allow me to elaborate: I've used this parking lot a handful of times, and I now live nearby. The attendant and owner are very nice, but I wouldn't recommend this lot if you care about your car. First, understand that the car lot is small, and only attended from about 6 AM to about 6 PM. Outside of those times, throughout the entire night, there is NO SECURITY. The lot has no security guards, the security cameras are not monitored, and the gates are left open ALL NIGHT. Cars left overnight here are regularly vandalized or broken into, particularly during the after-hours when the parking attendant leaves. And, on the occasions when I have seen the car owners confront the attendant, they always left with unsatisfied demeanors after long arguments. So don't expect any compensation or resolution if you are a victim. During the day when the lot is busy, cars are packed in extremely tightly, which leaves little room for error. So don't be surprised if your car has a few new scratches or door dents after leaving. So if you do park here, it is at your own risk. The attendant is very nice but is NOT on your side to remedy problems if something bad happens. The attendant/owner is fully aware that the cars in this lot are being broken into, damaged, and vandalized regularly, and does not take any measures to prevent it. This is truly one of those situations where you get what you pay for.

This parking was bit difficult to locate first but one of the most convenient place nearby; once you are acquainted with. One of the cheapest as well. It is very near to journal square path train station. On second day we had issues with front desk as there's none. So we waited for 30 minutes or so, so that we can pay and get the receipt to show in car. The old schools owner/ caretaker lives in the apartment shown on picture, middle window at corner. He saw us when waiting and he came down. He is a nice guy and helpful.

I believe they changed owner because I was pleasantly surprised by the service compared to the reviews out here. Told the guy we were heading out in 4 days and when it was time, our car was parked in a easy way out manner. He saw us, remembered and got our car out before we handed the ticket. Kind and respectful staff. Would recommend.

Horrific customer service; attendant has the worse attitude for no reason. Those 8 dollars all day arent worth that type of service. AVOID THIS TERRIBLE BUSINESS AT ALL COST.

Called them to check whether there are parking spots available. The guy is terrible. He hung up without answering my question.
