The store has a pretty good variety overall, but the customer service is non-existent. I went there today for women's running shoes and a gift card. I saw a few pairs of shoes I liked, but no one helped me in the 15 minutes I was trying them on. I had my 2 year old child with me, so it was already hard to shop. I would have appreciated if someone had approached us. On the way to the register, I walked past several employees who were just standing around talking. They smiled at me, but that was the extent of our interaction. At the register, the cashier was zombie-like in ringing up my gift card. The only person who seemed to really acknowledge us was the girl standing at the front door when we walked in. Every time (with two exceptions) I shop at Academy Sports in Jonesboro I have the same experience. There is always an abundance of employees, but they are all standing around talking to each other. They seem very reluctant to help.

Updated review. Staff at registers needs to be properly trained in customer service. Last two times we have gone both clerks were both dry and borderline rude. Barhrooms were horrible. A rest area bathroom is cleaner and better kept. Don't know who the Manager on duty on 3/10/2018 was but I think they need to be better trained as well.

when they have sales, it's the best time to shop. most staff members are helpful, others act like only working here for the money, but I guess we all do.
