I'd probably give this 4 and half stars. Everything was really solid. The food came out fast and service was excellent. The elote and sope were both delicious, as well as the hongos.
We love this place. Highly recommend. It's our local repeat date night restaurant. We prefer the 900 South location. Get the tacos barbacoa. And grilled cauliflower, my fave. You won't be disappointed, I promise.
Very good tasting food, but I wouldn't pay this much for Mexican food again. $15 for small plates. Entrees only.
A great new addition to the Salt Lake City food scene, and the 9th and 9th neighborhood.
I went for opening and got the 50 percent off all food. I really enjoyed the food, but I will not be going back. The prices are just outrageous. For the quality. The food is good, just not on par with the prices at all. Not even close. They refuse to carry anything other than Mexican beer. American IPA and pale ale goes so well with cilantro. Malty browns are great at cutting through something spicy. Come on guys! Get some craft beer and make the price match the quality then maybe I'll go back.
This is one of my favorite restaurants. Great atmosphere, excellent food, terrific patio area. The chef is an artist in the way he creates Mexican dishes that are a bit different, and better than most people are used to with traditional Mexican cuisine. Make sure you order the table side guacamole.
For the prices this place charges, I expected better food, it was so-so. The salsa you get before was great, just enough hotness, but not scorch your inside hot. The guacamole was fantastic, but that is its own appetizer order. Plus it can get very loud at peak time, good luck having a conversation. This new location is sub par to the original location.
Went with a group. Food was good, but service was horribly slow. When the food did not come after 45 minutes, we asked to speak with the manager. In fact, we had to ask three different people, because it took the manager over 10 minutes to come to the table, by which time our food had arrived. She apologized, and said they would try to do better, but made no attempt to make things right. Anyone can have an off night, but when you are serving pricey Mexican food, you only get one chance with me. Sadly, it was a miss.
Extremely over priced for average food. The enchiladas were good, but not 19 dollars good. The wait staff was constantly on the upsell and was constantly trying to get our order and get us out of there. The margiritas were very weak and overpriced. The location is awesome and the surrounding vibe is nice. I wouldn't recommend to a friend.
I really wanted to love this place. It seemed so perfect! I love good Mexican food, the chef's pedigree is exceptional, the location is right near my home, and the restaurant itself has a very inviting vibe as it sits above the street. I'd really been looking forward to trying it for some time, so with high expectations and a great deal of enthusiasm we finally gave it a shot. All of our enthusiasm tapered quickly though as we came to grips with the fact that the food was just mediocre at best, and VERY overpriced. We had the guacamole, street corn, enchilada suizas, enchiladas jaiba y camarones and a simple quesadilla for the kids. I can't even really comment on the individual dishes as there's very little to be said about them. The Jaiba y Camarones was the best of the bunch, but overall there was simply nothing exceptional here...just fairly average, even dull food at above average prices. . I should add that the service itself was very good, and our waiter was as attentive and professional as any you'll find. But, sadly, as much as we wanted to love it, it was a very disappointing dining experience. And coming it at over $100 with two margaritas, which were in fairness very good, even exceptional we left feeling let down and more than a little ripped off.
