Disappointed to only receive two months of mortgage relief thank you and I understand some people only received one month. The communication between AHF and my mortgage company and me lung cancerand my husband dementia was horrible. I know most people were expecting more months paid and I had to call AHF to be told only we were only getting two months. Even my mortgage company was left in the dark. We both work and have a difficult time every month. Especially since my husband cannot work a regular job due to his memory issues and makes little money. The "streamlined approach" did not work. My question is where did the $50,000,000.00 in government assistance go if so many folks only got a couple of months paid? I believe the applicants and the State of Alaska deserve an explanation.
I would give zero stars if I could. The communication within this office and getting a return call from the manager Mary is impossible. This company hasn't done me any good and has only caused me grief. I can only be as communicative as the staff. I have emailed, called and left numerous messages even went as far as stopping in the office and was told they're not allowing people in you much call or email. I DO NOT RECOMMEND SEEKING SERVICES HERE YOU WILL BE WAISTING YOUR TIME!
Poor programs. no communications for applicants. Lack of service area. My advice....hire more people. Maybe the working class can obtain apprenticeships with your company in exchange for services. It would get more alaskans housed faster. And maybe waiting wouldn't make the rest of us homeless and in poor living conditions in the meantime
Apparently, I learned from a former employee that they lie about the money for aid to recepients by claiming that it was due to “technical errors”. Not only that but these people had the audactity to make fun of recepients such as my family calling for aid in the cushy office. What makes it even worst is that they have so much for aid on which they spent on corporate parties such as vendors and dessert parties. I was also told to make sure to talk to a supervisor since they hire temp workers who are not given every detail about the aid.
Jan 03 2023: I just received an email TODAY that my Aprill 2022 application closed on 09/01/2022. It said nothing about my electricity or fuel being paid but I did get the two payments for housing... Dec 2022 : I have been calling since June 2022 to find out if they were going to pay my electricity. They kept telling me that they had not started that part of the application yet although my email states application completed after they paid two months of mortgage. I had to use my pfd on my electric because it was sent to collections and now my property is in foreclosure because I didn't have enough to pay everything....Im a disabled veteran and this is the worst feeling to go through after everything else I've been through. June 9th 2022: Thank you for all that you do for Alaskans in need! When this process actually starts, my family can be together again and all under the same roof. Thats why this waiting period is hard, its too long with no answers, things get cut off or people get kicked out during the process. I called last month to tell them my electric company would accept a promise to pay by email or phone and the representative stated they dont do that but knew nothing else. It was heart breaking. Been calling and checking since and no news until I wrote this review but still no new emails to get the actual process started and there is nothing in my spam folder. Initial reveiw: The application process was not that bad but the waiting time is. Since April 2022 my electric has been turned off and when I call to find out the status no one ever knows anything.
I have waited since April 4 only to be told in July that they have sent a check to my bank, I called periodically only to be told that it can take up to 90 days. So when the 90 days was up I called to get info they told me they ment 90 business days. I called back on the 10th and now they can't find any info. There are notes but they don't see any payment. What a joke!!
What is Alaska Housing Rent Relief? Provides qualified Alaskans up to 12 MONTHS OF RENT and assistance with utilities. I have received 9 months of rent/utility assistance. However, my application is marked complete, when I should have 3 more months remaining. Turns out that this is because they count your electric and rent separately toward total months of assistance. I have spoken with Jennifer from valley charities and Sarah, a supervisor in the call center, they advised that i must do an appeal to get this fixed. I have spent the last hour looking on your website, your blogs, your quarterly reports, and i am unable to find anything that says if you ask for help with utilities that you are penalized and that is counted toward your months of rental assistance. No one in their right mind would ask you to pay their electric bill in lieu of a month of rent. IF your formula was correct, then I would have been given 18 months of assistance. When I spoke with my rent relief specialist, Terry Beverly, he did not state, "hey are you sure you want help with your electricity bill, because if you do, we will count that against your months of rent." Your call center said that I am not allowed to pay back electricity so i can have my 3 months of rent assistance instead. I filed the appeal today, but, i heard from your call center that this is a very very common complaint, and if that is true than maybe it should be posted somewhere on your website...it is NOT in the fine print anywhere either, i asked the call center for a copy of this policy they said they do not have it because they are just the call center and only an appeal will get me my answers...now I'm waiting.
Cannot talk to case manager so I've already had to go to eviction court. I have 30 days to come up with a lot more money, or move. I've had to repeatedly send in documents but it's so hard to find out what they are questioning on the documents. I just got another request for info on where I live and who my landlord is. Why do I have to send this in 4 times while I'm in the process of getting evicted because I'm behind on rent? It makes no sense we all are suppose to have case managers but we can't know who they are or talk to them. What are they there for?
Applied for the rental assistance the day it was available. Been waiting nearly five months and not a word back.. I’m packing my stuff because I’m being evicted at the end of the month. Thanks a lot ahfc for saying one thing and not doing something completely different. While you’re busy paying my landlord money down the road, my apartment will be rented to somebody else, I’ll be on the street, which makes you simply giving money to somebody for no reason after that. You outdid yourself this time.
I applied and was approved over three months ago. My landlords kept part of my deposit bc rent relief never came through and it set me back for months. These programs were funded with millions of dollars and they’re delaying the release of the funds to keep the people they’ve employed with money in their pockets while the rest of us suffer.
