Such an amazing stay. Perfect location, walking distance to pretty much everything. We lucked up and was able to get parking on the street, vehicle stayed parked the whole weekend which was a huge savings! This place is stunning, beautifully decorated for Christmas. Very good service, pleasant staff, seemed like they were very happy with their work which is nice to see! They were accommodating and attentive. We had an issue with our room door, they fixed it right away, the engineer was so sweet! This place is safe and secure, you need key access in order to get up to the rooms which is nice and in the main doors at a certain time. The hallways were very clean and quiet. The rooms were nice and super clean, the bed was comfortable, nice size TV in the room, our weekend was busy and but relaxing at times. Would highly recommend this place, especially if you’re attending a game at one of the stadiums, the Fox Theater, Opera House, etc. Can’t wait to go back!
Aloft is a perfect location. One can easily walk north and south on Woodward. It is situated very close to all of the stadiums bars and the Fox Theatre. When we pulled up to Aloft, we were easily able to park valet. We have stayed in the past, and the valet line can get a little congested, but not this time. We easily walked in and walked up to the check-in counter, where they were extremely friendly and happy. They quickly gave us our room. It went exactly as planned. Room 918. Ninth floor atrium view room. 2 queens there were 3 huge windows. I thought the room was nice and quiet. I thought the room was large. The beds were comfortable. The room was set at 70. It felt much warmer. We put it at 65. That seemed a more comfortable temperature. It was very clean. The bathroom itself was large and clean. But I did not like the shower. It was small and water got everywhere. It was a low lip shower. There should have been 2x the towels to clean the water off the floor. I did like the shampoo and body wash dispensers on the shower wall. Leaving in the morning went excellent. We notified the valet that we were on the way down. The car was there, waiting for us. The valet people also were very friendly. Overall, it was an excellent experience. This is probably the 4th time that we have stayed at Aloft. We will absolutely stay again. I almost forgot to mention how beautiful the lobby was, and how friendly and convenient the small bar inside the lobby is.
Aloft Detroit is such a special place! The building itself inside is stunning - and decorated for Christmas it was beautiful. We were greeted by Desmon at the front desk, who knew it was my birthday as soon as I gave my name. He immediately offered birthday wishes and an upgrade to our room. The Assistant General Manager heard "birthday" and came over to wish me happiness and offered us celebratory drinks in the bar. They then sent up champagne, cookies, and chocolates!! The room was spacious and comfortable with a great view and a great bed. And quiet - I love a quiet hotel room and this one was definitely that. I never heard a sound from another guest or the staff. My partner and I were born in Detroit and have lived in the area forever. Neither of us had ever stayed at Aloft and we were so pleasantly surprised. The rooms are really quite reasonably priced and it's in a perfect location for any event going on in the city. I'd highly recommend both the hotel itself and the wonderful staff!
This is a beautiful hotel located in a historic building in downtown Detroit. I stayed here for 3 nights as part of a conference. The lobby is spacious and chic and has a cafe, bar, and dining space. The meeting space on the second floor is very open. I really appreciated the historic architecture all about. The front desk staff and bartenders were helpful, courteous, and friendly. My room king, street view was quite spacious and comfy. It was appointed in a modern style that was perfect. I also used the gym which had quite a bit of equipment and was large in size. This was overall a fantastic experience!
Nice, clean hotel, in a cool historic building, in a convenient part of town. There is a people mover stop attached to the building, the Q-Line streetcar stop is right across the street and there is also a bus stop right outside, so access to public transit is very good. The central location is good for those attending a sporting event or show as this hotel is very close to most of the theater and all of the sporting venues in downtown. I felt like my room was very clean, as were most of the common areas, but some of the seating in the lobby looked like it could use a deep clean. Biggest negatives were that the front desk staff could be a little more enthusiastic and the TV in my room had spotty reception as if it were a satellite dish in a rainstorm.
An absolutely awesome hotel. The staff is great and the facilities have been well kept for generations. The common areas are spacious and will accommodate large groups. The hotel is centrally located with a lot of great restaurants in walking distance. I also tried the line scooters which were outstanding. I will be back. I attended the business conference here and the hotel was a great host.
We had an absolute wonderful stay here. We came in town for a pistons game. We were able to walk to the game as it was very close by. The staff here were wonderful!! It's a beautiful building, additionally the rooms are great. We didn't hear much noise from neighbors or the hallway like you do at most hotels, rooms were clean and had everything we needed. We will stay here again while in town!!
Great stay the staff were extremely friendly and helpful the valet team was fast and efficient. And the building itself is simply stunning absolutely beautiful restoration worth staying here just to walk around the inside of the building. Extremely convenient downtown location would highly recommend and would definitely return in the future.
I am not one to usually write reviews but I had to for my stay here. They have mixed reviews however, many of them are positive so I had high expectations! I stayed here for my birthday weekend and my aunt payed for my hotel, we thought it was paid for already but when I arrived it wasn't, I just had the reservation it was sorted out but the lady at the front desk was extremely rude and not friendly at all and I was trying to sort out the payment and she clearly wasn't bothered and I would ask her questions and half her responses were "idk". It's very expensive to stay here so therefore, the customer service should be amazing. It was poor and it ruined my experience to an extent and don't recommend staying here. Also I was told they would have something for me upon arrive because I was celebrating my birthday. I didn't get anything, I didn't expect something to begin with but don't tell your customers you will have something for them and not go through with it. I will say Valet was amazing! kind, friendly and helpful.
We had reserved a room for our honeymoon. When we arrived the room we were given was not the corner suite we had paid for. My husband tried to rectify this via phone to the front desk. They did nothing until he went down to the desk and they switched our rooms. Some staff were friendly, with one being overly talkative with marriage advice taking around 15 minutes to check us in. The room was devoid of any info of the amenities, Wi-Fi and TV info, or info about nearby attractions/restaurants. As we were checking out we were told we needed to retrieve a luggage cart on our own. This stay did not live up to the reputation of the Whitney and we were thoroughly disappointed with the experience. I do not recommend this hotel especially given the cost of staying.
