My wife has had an ongoing relationship with Dr Shields at Alpine Hematology for 6 years. She has also been cared for by two PAs and many nurses during this time. There were some issues when they merged or were purchased by another group practice from Clark County. They seem to have gotten through that change. All the staff are kind, thorough and professional. Dr Shields is unfailingly kind, gentle and extends the utmost of professional treatment. It is true you may have a wait. Our experience with that is noticing the MDs spend the time needed with their patients, not the time they are reimbursed by one's insurance. Dr. Shields and his team have been indespensible to my wife and her care. We highly recommend them.

I saw Dr Margaret Van Meter for cancer treatment starting a couple of years ago. She is a competent doctor, but if you want any degree of discretion or compassion from this physician you can look elsewhere.
I was upset and depressed (obviously - who wouldn't be) about my cancer diagnosis. The treatment was difficult and had long lasting effects.
I had made comments about my experiences and how difficult my life felt at the time. She quoted every comment and wrote psychiatric notes that were very, very damaging. Although I am quite sane (as can be confirmed by any of my other doctors), her notes are negative to the point of making me look like a patient in severe need of psychiatric treatment, and possibly needing institutional commitment.
Again, this doctor is well trained and has a lot of experience. If you do decide to see her, be very careful what you say. If you are depressed or upset or angry about your condition, hide it from her. Otherwise she will quote everything you say to her in confidence and it will be a PERMANENT part of your medical record.
To make matters worse, Dr Van Meter made a point to send this information to every doctor she knew I had at the time. What fit of passive aggressiveness could have inspired this action? Luckily, my relationships with primary care and other doctors are very good and they appeared not to be influenced by this barrage of negativity and judgmentalism.
It was interesting that there were many other appointments in which I was cheerful or positive, but this was not noted.

The treatment in this office is truly horrible to a cancer patient because they don't tell you the truth they do not give you what is really going on even the people at the hospital told me that the doctors don't have the courage to tell you the truth so they give you false hope and Dr. Vanmeter is totally non-compassionate and non-caring in my opinion

Upon entering the office, the receptionist "seemed" nice. We arrived 30 minutes prior to the appointment, and waited, along with another patient, for almost 40 minutes. When the medical "assistant" or whatever just opened the door and said in a rude manner; "I need your vitals" and just stood there with a rude look. Mind you this was my husband's first time there. The doctor was a nightmare, disregarding everything said, and looking at us as if we were a nuissance. She basically said we were taking up precious space for nothing. All the while showing us all of the flagged items on his results. Dr. Reganti was very insincere, heartless, and seemed to care more about taking phone calls and discussing other patient files with her colleagues as we sat watching her. I am very disappointed with this office so far.
