I visited here for the first time during 614 Restaurant Week. Their general menu is pretty solid, unique, with lots of wines and some specialized dishes; the three course menu for that week was highly attractive. The salmon entree was exceptional and the most memorable part for me: tender, nice blackened crust on the fish, 5-star dish. While other plates at the table were enjoyable, I don't feel anything else was 5-star worthy. The carrot cake and tres leches cake were both extremely dry, as if they were prepared long ago and left out, or frozen and thawed.. I did enjoy the flavors and sweet/spice balance of the carrot cake, but otherwise, we were all disappointed by dessert. Service was good and we were in a smaller, intimate dining area that made for some laughs between the two parties there. I wouldn't deter anybody from giving Alqueria a try; they have lots of fans!
Very flavorful food. Helpful kind staff. Went during restaurant week. Regular menu items a tad pricey but flavor is there. Could maybe knock off $2-$4 per item or add more to the meal.Dine in: YesOutdoor seating: No
The appetizers and drinks were to die for! We split the brusels and sweet potatoes. Large portions! I had a wonderfully unique drink as well. Dinner main course was delicious, but huge portions! Overall great food and atmosphere, will definitely be returning!
Great service, atmosphere and excellent food, portions, drinks, it was well done, all around. Local high quality ingredients, freshly prepared with skill are worth a visit. I would definitely recommend checking them out.
First note, excellent ambience and buzz, great service, truly! I really wanted to love this place but I felt some deja vu. Columbus is certainly growing and so too it’s food culture, and there is much to be won, but it feels rushed. I’ve encountered so many “almost” restaurants lately… Perhaps it’s redundant of me, but if you’re offering food and the food isn’t spot on, what’s going on? Are you hurrying to be a community talking point, or complacent perhaps. For example, many thoughtful dishes here with good pairings. But I’ve never had a lamb dish I didn’t love, the broccolini was a bit undercooked, the lamb cut was a bit undercooked; the fat hasn’t reached that perfect point between slimy and chewy. Lamb is an art surely and I will say the overtone of an obscure flavor kept coming through and perhaps the tomato jam but when you take flavor risks make sure the preparation is exact otherwise mixing not so cooked lamb with a bright flavor might make the experience worse. The food came very fast on all counts. That’s always a red flag, particularly when it’s a very large serving. The specials were decent, fresh. Some appetizers such as the sweet potatoes were quite simple but mostly well done, to make a simple dish speak is an art. I would say that plenty of potential here, and some good success in plates but something a bit lagging. Sometimes I wonder if I’m too picky, but I think that simple good food is hard to ignore. Just my opinion here, but I have a fair amount of experience and I really hate to be critical of our local gems. Columbus growth is something to be proud of, and I hope we can maintain quality control! I will absolutely give it another try, and you should too. Some days are just not as good as others, some dishes.
First time visit during Restaurant week. Opted to do one 3-course and one Ala Carte. Glad we were drawn in! It was already on our list of places to go as we had heard great things about the Brussel Sprout starter from the regular menu - and it was fabulous! Blackened Salmon with Grits and the Crispy Pork Shank [aka Osso Bucco] with Harissa Sauce [think Spicy BBQ] were both top-notch! Service was quick, attentive, and never over bearing or intrusive. Looking forward to our next meal here!
I cannot recommend this place enough. EVERYTHING tastes amazing! And the staff was super friendly and came by just the right amount not forgetting about you, but also not being a bother.
I am embarrassingly late posting this review. We visited this establishment the summer of 21, again disgustingly late! We had such a pleasant time. Our waiter a gentleman with dark hair and some facial hair& glassesforgive me not recalling his name was amazing! He was warm, welcoming, attentive, funny, clever, & very informative regarding the menu. The drink were delicious and beautiful. Mine tasted like a thin mint. The burger so hardy and perfectly prepared. We shared an appetizer which was wings with sesame seeds. They were delicious. We dined outside as the weather was gorgeous. We look forward to visiting again soon. It was definitely worth it. Oh, btw the ladies room was spotless, always a huge deal to me!
Phenomenal experience. Food was better than described. The staff was amazing. Just a great experience. Thank you.
Fantastic restaurant. Food was really tasty, and the server was so genuine and sweet. While not necessarily a reinvention of the culinary wheel, they know what they're doing and they're damn good at it. Beautiful addition to that neighborhood, you won't regret a visit. The patio is really nice too, it was a little chilly so we were able to waltz in without a reservation.
