Bring your kids!!!!! Bring your family!!! Whether it is for picking strawberries or blueberries in the spring/summer or apples in the fall, Alstede farms is a wonderful place for everyone! They have a huge area with places for the kids to climb and LOADS of animals to see and pet. Outside, there is a garden section, although smaller than it used to be where one can purchase flats of flowers and vegetables to grow as well as hanging plants. Inside, a fresh bakery with apple cider donuts and other goods plus fresh jams, jellies and red sauces. Their fresh corn and tomatoes are too die for come mid-summer!

We love the farm. It’s super close to us and isn’t busy if you go before 11 when it’s free. The staff is very friendly. I like that it’s free to walk around and see the baby animals and we can select some produce to take home. Lunches are reasonably priced and facilities are very clean. There’s also a nice wine selection for gifts.

First the good....called them on Saturday regarding delivering firewood and they were able to deliver on Sunday. They were very prompt and professional. The driver delivered the wood exactly where I asked, no problems at all, nice people.
Now the bad. The wood is advertised as seasoned which means "cut down last season" and it has been presumably drying. The wood appeared fresh cut, which was a bit concerning. It also seemed heavy (another concern, heavier wood means more moisture), then came the burn. I have lit about 100 fires or so in our wood stove. I am not an expert but I know how to light a fire fairly efficiently but the wood just smolders and is very difficult to light, I have to keep feeding kindling, but even then it doesn't actually light.
I'll be drying the wood throughout the summer and I am sure it will be fine but you pay a higher price for seasoned wood. I am highly skeptical if this is the product that was advertised.

My family gets the farm share from Alstede and it's great.
The farm itself can get very busy and the entertainment leaves a little something to be desired but the atmosphere is nice, the staff is very friendly, and their events are great.
During a few months of the year, you can pick your own berries, pumpkins, and other fruits. It's a lot of fun, especially for kids.
Other notable things include the sunflower maze, the goats, and their phenomenal apple cider, which is the best I've ever had.
If you get the opportunity, I recommend attending one of the breakfasts that they hold throughout the year. For the most part, they serve their fresh produce and the food is delicious.
Overall, a visit to Alstede Farms is well worth your time.

We visited Alstede Farm recently during Easter event. We had two young kids with us and they really enjoyed all the activities - the pony rides, wagon train ride, bounce house, egg hunting, petting farm animals, and roasting marshmallows over camp fire. I expected the activities to be somewhat lame but everything was very well organized and impressive. I also enjoyed the fact there were not huge crowds on the day we went. We were able to find parking easily and did not have to wait in line for activities for too long. Looking forward to returning to the farm for fruit picking and activities for the kids!
