Ames United Church of Christ

God's love is for ALL people, no exceptions - that's my experience here at Ames UCC over the last several years. I was always taught as a kid that "all have fallen short" and yet I never felt like there was truth in that concept, nor humility in those pews of childhood. This church takes that to heart - we're all in the same boat, living life together, and we need to stand with each other and truly love our fellow people. That means standing up for LGBT rights, non-binary rights, gender equality, the rights of kids to express themselves freely, the rights of people who look different from us or who come from a different place...the list of people to love truly never ends. That means having an open door and table to share the radical love that Jesus the Christ was all about. It means being a supportive community in every sense, even when that doesn't match what others say we should do. It means being open, confronting, and refusing to walk away from those "tough" discussions. It means acknowledging that science is real, humanity can be bigoted (and needs to work on that), and that God is not just some fairy tale of old - God is still speaking, right here, right now. Ames United Church of Christ is a home for all people - no matter who you are or where you are on life's journey, come walk with us! We mean it!

Love this Church! They don't mind were you are in life's journey, they are just happy you are there!
