Unfortunately Andrew station has become a loitering area for the many homeless addicts that live and are protected on south Hampton and Mass Avenue. This does not cause much of an issue always, but it is very dirty due to those who take advantage of the help they are given in that area and use the tracks and waiting areas to do drug deals, use drugs, litter needles, and even as a restroom. Keep in mind though, that these are things found at any t station, this particular one is probably the worst if judging by these characteristics. It is not an unsafe place however. Just dirty and uncomfortable.
The only problem was it was Christmas Eve and we left my package sitting on the porch and someone stole it if there's a hallway to put them in you should put them in he never ring my bell nothing dropped him on the front stairs outside and someone walked by casually took them away thanks a lot
Just a lot of people hanging around asking for money. Granted this is the case all around the city lately but it becomes frustrating when you have to use the station to transfer buses or trains. I'm a sympathetic and empathetic person and I've been in situations where I needed help; there is a point where it becomes a lifestyle choice if you continue to live on the street with all of the help that is available for people in Massachusetts. Thing is that some people arent willing to give up a couple of freedoms temporarily in order to get the help that's available and thats why I don't feel bad most of the time; I accepted that help myself and am a much happier person today because of it and I am able to help myself.
So I live right near here and enjoy cause it’s very convienent. That being said it’s like the loony bin let the patients out on recess. Just keep to yourself it’s safe you’ll just get asked for money. And if you smoke a cig too. There’s 10,000 police there as well. You’ll be good. Lol
Andrew station is usually grimy and dirty. There is a lot of riff-raff around at times. However Andrew Square is getting cleaned up and along with it everything else in the neighborhood is benefiting. This station is fairly big and there are numerous bus lines that bring people to different parts of the city.
Not a bad station considering it's so close to "methadone mile". Red line to alewife is usually quick. During the week it takes about 8 min between subway trains so there's always one within a few min of arrival.
I stop at Andrew to transfer to a bus, it's not too bad for a bus station. There are attendants there to help you, especially during rush hour, and for the location you don't run into too many "unsavory" characters. The bus drivers are super helpful and most I the time relatively friendly. My commute to work could suck, but public transit isn't too bad!
This station is pretty dirty. It’s also in a bad area. It ain’t terrible like Dorchester or Mattapan, but I would be wary of your surroundings and make sure you have everything with you.
The place has a lot of addicts, homeless, and police hanging around. The escalators do not work all the time and it should be cleaned more often.
Not the best location to land in a nice, walkable area. But it's closest to South bay shopping center and has a covered waiting areas for buses, and indoor waiting area for subway. South bay center has best buy, home depot, target, stop & shop, to max, office depot, Applebees, metropcs, show carnival, bed bath and beyond, olive garden, panera...and soon more cinema, walburhger, ulta...
