Went there tonight not knowing the owner and namesake is a long time friend and boss of my grandfather’s! We were sitting raving about her food and came across a picture and the rest is history! Not only because she is now family that I’m giving this review but the restaurant deserves every bit of the 5 starts I gave it! Very homely, family styled Italian food! Home cooked and on the spot! You have to make reservations because it truly reminds you of home! She’s been there for 40 years and I see why! God Bless Angelina! Her and her son were great hosts!
I wasn’t crazy about this place. Food was ok not great. Took a very long time to receive our dinners. High priced too. Felt extremely uncomfortable in the restaurant due to cramped table seating. Wasn’t impressed at all. Won’t return. I can make better Italian food at home.
It was great the red sauce was amazing problem is that basically she told me directly that she doesn't want dining in house anymore very rare I'll make exception for people she knows she likes to take out orders and she wants to slow down cuz she's send me one years old now so if you think you're going to come here at the bunch of friends and sit down and have a full service meal it's not going to happen unless unless you prearrange it this is basically a take out joint it's excellent food incredible portions high quality food. By the way everyone is correct the chicken parmesan is to die for
One of a kind! Hidden gem! Incredible food, incredible staff Angelinas son, a one man show!. Angelina you are a gift! We felt like we were at home. Can’t wait to go back.
Amazing home cooked food. Don't expect your run of the mill boujie restaurant inside, far from it, but the food 5 star. Worth the hour long drive and I will definitely be going back. The owner and her son are just so sweet. Its like your going to dinner at families house. The portions are HUGE keep that in mind as well. Pricey thats for sure as well but again worth the quality. We weren't rushed out either which is nice for a change. Call ahead for your reservation, the owner will then send you a copy of the menu and 2 weeks before your reservation you call in your order because everything is cooked fresh that day. Enjoy!
Spectacular food, intimate setting, a customer at the adjacent table shared his entree with us. The patriotic theme is strictly partisan and leans to the right, Conservative television news was playing while we were there. Service can be slower than most but the food is site cooked. There are no prices on the single menu passed among the tables. Ask or be prepared for sticker shock.
Disclaimer: this is not a restaurant you can just walk into. You have to call ahead and you have to have a reservation. The food is heavenly and made to order. This is Bayonne’s best kept secret!
This place is a breathtaking! The food is delicious and the owner very passionate about her business. You must call and place an order before you get to the restaurant she will send you the menu just to avoid delays when u get there. You will have a great experience as “having a family meal at your moms living room! Go check it out! Great place and don’t forget to order her corn soup
I walked 5 miles from Jersey City to check out Angelina's. It was a cold Monday night 4/4/2022; I can't imagine they were that busy. According to Google maps they are open on Mondays until 10:30 pm. I arrived promptly at 8 pm and the door was locked. I called and was somewhat rudely informed, "We're not open unless you have reservations or pick-up. It's too late for dine-in." Angelina's does not have a website. My expectation is that restaurants who require reservations have websites directing diners to their phone number or online reservation system and highlighting the need for such reservations. Angelina's does not. Sorry Angelina, you get one star for being lazy and cheap no website, for being rude and for being utterly disrespectful of my time. Please update your hours on your Google profile.
So, I just went to this place last night with a friend and her family and they spoke so highly about this place that I was excited. Sounded like very authentic Italian food. We walked in and it felt like I was stepping back in time to my grandmas living room. The atmosphere may be odd to some, but if you grew up in an Italian American household, it will feel like home. The woman there is the only cook, she cooks everything herself, and the son helps and brings the food out. Both are very sweet. I ordered rigatoni with meatballs and it was delicious, but the woman came out at one point and said “oh my god I tasted the pasta, I didn’t put enough salt”, I said please no, it’s so delicious I promise you. But that’s the stuff I appreciate, a chef who knows what she’s doing, that she will stop everything and come out and make that comment. That’s the authenticity that I search for that I can not find usually when I’m in an Italian restaurant. A friend ordered a steak and it was huge, I was upset I didn’t get that because it looked like the best steak ever. The eggplant parmigiana was phenomenal. Had some blue sangria and it was strong and delicious. I can’t think of a single complaint. I’m not sure how this place was before Covid, but I think it’s more low key now with Covid. We had to place our order before hand. But when we got there, the food was just about ready to come out. She bakes her own bread!!! This place screams Italian Nonna. Try your best to come to this place. I for sure will be back. This place is a gem and I hope she keeps this place for many more years to come. Best wishes to her and her family.
