Anthony Azar, MD

Doctor Azar is one of the most genuine doctors that I have ever encountered in New York City. He explains things in a way that even the most difficult concepts can be understood, and it's always great to understand the details of our health. Visits with him are always thorough, because he makes sure you are taken care of in every aspect possible, hence sometimes the wait might be a little long. However, it is always worth it at the end of the day. The doctor is a friend to many of his patients, and is probably one of the most friendly and understanding doctors around. He prioritizes his patients and his staff does a tremendous amount of administrative work behind the scenes to make sure everyone is receiving proper care. If you are looking for a primary doctor that can make a difference in your life, Doctor Azar is the one to go to.

Dr. Azar is the best out there he is wonderful and his staff have to be the best so caring and listen to you on the phone.

Dr. Azar is the best. He has been my husband's and my primary care physician for a couple years now. They usually try to squeeze you in if you really need an appointment and the Doctor really does a great job of listening to you and giving you a thorough exam of your illness or injury. I have had doctors in the past where I felt like I really had to be an advocate for myself and argue to get care, but I totally trust Dr. Azar and I know if something is wrong he is going to do everything necessary to make it better. WOULD RECOMMEND!

Seemingly one of the last few docs who take time to get to know a patient in the course of finding out whats wrong with you. Also has a mini hospital of sorts with tons of equipment. highly reccomended

Dr A is the BEST!!! He diagnosed me when no one else could, and with enormous kindness and wonderful care he has worked with me on everything from prescription meds to herbal supplements and vitamins. I love his holistic approach! In fairness hos office seems incapable of using an answering machine or email, but they’re good at getting you to see him fast. You just have to keep calling till you get them.

I'd still be seeing Dr. A if I lived in NYC. He's the first doc of too many I'd seen to believe my symptoms and encourage me to keep getting checked, even when all tests were showing up normal. That advice really saved me years later and has made me proactive about my health. Thank you!

I went to Dr. Azar for both an annual physical and some sick visits. The annual physical was very rudimentary at best and didn't feel like a physical at all. Dr. Azar did draw blood himself instead of having a nurse or assistant do it. Where Dr. Azar shines is when you go to him with an illness. He is thorough in his evaluations and testing and does it in a very pleasant demeanor. I felt like I was getting great care and diagnosis. As for wait time - I think countless reviews have already mentioned it and they are correct; the wait time is ridiculous! Don't think that you will be seen at your appointment time; it's more like an hour to an hour and a half after that. I guess the other way to look at it is that they take walk-in patients too, so if you have an emergency, they are basically like "urgent care" as well. I have since found another internist for my annual physicals and sick visits because I can't stand the long waiting times! BUT... I have gone back to Dr. Azar from time to time when my regular doctor couldn't see me because their schedule was full.

Dr Azar is one of the absolute best physicians you will find. Extremely knowledgeable and genuinely caring it’s unfortunate that I moved away. He will take his time with you and is worth the wait to see him. Keep in mind that he is very through and will order tests and labs that other doctors will omit. I am alive today due to a lab test that insurance refused to pay.

DO NOT GO TO DR. AZAR. I scheduled an appointment with Dr. Anthony Azar through Zoo Doc to get a prescription refilled for Truvada PREP and get a standard STD testing. Not only did I wait 2 hours to be seen, but reception was beyond rude, and I observed the receptionist act unprofessional and rude towards people in person and on the phone. When I finally saw Dr. Azar, he was friendly at first... Then Dr. Azar became too friendly—to the point where I was extremely uncomfortable. I was only here to do an STD screening and blood test for my liver counts... instead, I was instructed to do a full physical, where there was definitely uncomfortable and unnecessary touching. When asked about my sexuality, Dr. Azar was rude, unprofessional, and decided to crack multiple sexual jokes. Finally, getting out of the office and collecting myself—I was presented with a $2,000 insurance claim from my insurance provider. Dr. Anthony Azar charged me $500 for being a new patient... and an extra $1,200 in blood and other tests that he performed without my consent. DO NOT go to this man, it has been absolutely horrible.

I have been a patient for many years. The wait is long but he is thorough and kind. I just reached out to him in a crisis and he helped me. He is awesome. Thank you Dr. Azar
