Arther and Lucca were absolutely wonderful! I took my wedding dress in for alterations 3 weeks before my wedding day. It fit like a glove! I would have never thought to bustle the train, but I was so glad they suggested it as it was so easy to move around in at the reception. Absolutely LOVED how it turned out!
I have worked with Nicholas for a long time now when it comes to alterations. When he told me they do custom suits I was so excited! I got married on May 28th, 2022 and Arthur and Lucca altered my wedding dress and made my husband's custom suit. My dress needed a lot of work to make it exactly what I envisioned and they made it perfect!!! I can't even begin to explain how happy I was with the transformation they did. And my Husbands suit was fantastic. You get to choose everything from color, fit, buttons, and thread. And of course, My husband had to have the space pattern for the inside lining lol I ordered a litter later than I should have but they bent over backward to make sure everything was ready and perfect by the time of our wedding. I highly recommend and will send anyone I know here.Service: Alterations
I used Arthur + Lucca for my wedding dress alterations and after so much research, I'm so glad I went with them. They were the perfect combination of high quality, exceptional service, and fair prices. What was most important is that they always had availability for me to come in for alterations and promised that the week of my wedding they would do any last-minute touches within 24 hours, which they did! I also got my wedding dress preserved here. I can't say enough great things about them!
Had a really fantastic experience here. I have a waxed cotton trench coat from Epaulet and American trench that was a very limited run item and they no longer would tailor. I wanted to have button holes placed in the jacket in order to insert a wool liner I have for the jacket to make it a three season coat. I spoke with 4 other tailors in town who said they wouldn’t touch the coat due to how tricky it would be. Arthur and Lucca gave me a very fair quote $140 for the work total and now my jacket is that much more versatile and will be in the rotation for many years to come. Couldn’t be happier and will work with them again for sure.
Very pleasant experience. Saved a couple pairs of linen pants that a previous tailor had nearly ruined. Pros: They're opinionated in a good way. I want my tailor to know how pants should hang, and mine did here. Also, it's just way nicer to be in this shop than it is to be in other tailors around Chicago. Easy parking around here is also nice. Cons: It's pretty frustrating that you can't call, but I love the appointments system and they're responsive enough over email. Long wait times, but it seems like that's everywhere these days.Service: Alterations
Paid for alternations and a rush free for a wedding dress - when I came back after the first fitting, it appeared like nothing at all had been done - even the lady who worked on is said this. Dress fit exactly the same. They apologized and said they would rush to do it - I let them know when I was leaving town and needed the dress. Never heard from them, came back and nothing had been done. I took the dress back and no one will respond regarding a refund at minimum for the rush fee as they did not even make that date.Service: Alterations
Arthur and Lucca did a wonderful job on alterations for my wedding dress and tailoring for my husband’s suit. They were very nice, professional and talented, and their store is super cute and modern, carrying gifts and home goods items. I’d definitely recommend for alterations for a big event.
Update!! I left my original post up for context, but I am really happy with the response to this complaint. They brought me back in right away, fixed everything that was wrong with the dress, and even covered the costs associated with me going back into the store. The owner called me directly and apologized profusely. That's really good customer service, folks! Still docking one star for the inconvenience of it all, but the dress looks great now! OLD REVIEW: I have never once left a negative review for a business, but I guess there is a first time for everything. I came to Arthur + Lucca to alter a bridesmaid dress for an upcoming wedding. I wanted principally three things: 1 to take it in slightly; 2 to shorten it I'm 5'4 and 3 to add cups. It was mostly fine, until the cups. The workmanship was downright awful. The dress was double lined which I am keenly aware of, because they charged me $70 each for both layers of lining when they hemmed the dress -- totaling $140. Yet, for whatever reason, in some places the cups were stitched all the way through the dress so that the stitches are plainly visible from the front of the dress, resulting in some unsightly bunching. One of the cups is perfect and stitched into the second layer of lining which shows me that it can be done-- and they were just sloppy with the other cup. In two visits, I paid over $350 to alter this dress, only for it to have visible defects in the front. For the sake of both your wallet and your garments, stay away.Service: Alterations
It was my second time having my clothes alterations by Arthur and Lucca, the services were quick, reasonably priced and very well done. Highly recommend.
I got my wedding dress altered at Arthur & Lucca. I waited until about 3 months before my wedding to get alterations and was starting to freak out because every other place in Chicago that did alterations had about a 3 month turnaround time. Arthur & Lucca made the alterations in 2 weeks. Cassie at Arthur & Lucca was patient and kind when helping me alter my dress. All of the prices were discussed and posted online so there were no surprises. I am very happy with the services provided and will be going back if I need any other clothing altered.Service: Alterations
