Our latest experience with the Midland Theater was like a large trailer park canceled a big dance on free propane tank fill up night and everyone decided to go see comedy at the Midland instead on 1/2 price Groupon tickets. I have only been to the Midland twice. Once for a private event, which was awesome and the venue was great. But recently I attended a comedy show. The seats were extremely uncomfortable. The ushers were helpful but seemed to have no sense of self awareness by helping the extremely late attendees right in the middle of the isles disrupting the view for everyone behind them. The sounds of the bar inside the actual theater was extremely loud even though we were sitting a good 50 ft away from it. Most of the noise coming from the two bartenders speaking at full volume to each other about whatever the hell was so interesting. The crowd just as bad. People up and down, up and down, up and down, for 2 hours walking to the bar to get more drinks. There were just so many distractions at the Midland. We will be avoiding all other activities at the Midland in the future unless its a private event.

I have never attended a concert here for fun, but I have worked many. I can honestly say the acoustics in this place are real. And I have enjoyed working every one. This venue is one that you can always feel safe at. And not to mention when you leave the concert, you are 2 blocks away from Power & Light. So that’s awesome. If a band or group you like is coming here, definitely buy a ticket

This is based on the box office alone. I tried to buy online and was greeted with convenience fees of $13 PER TICKET. I called to see if it was cheaper via phone. Nope. I had to drive all the way there, find parking, pay for parking, and buy my ticket in person. Their box office hours are also really limited. I have other shows I would like to see there, but I simply don't have the time to drive the half hour there and back every time I want to buy a ticket--especially since they close so early and aren't open on weekends, according to their site.

One of my personal favorite venues to see concerts at. They've never disappointed me, the sound system and lights are always amazing. The tickets are always reasonably priced whether you pick them up from the box office or pre-order them and have them shipped to your home.

Have visited this venue three times now and am amazed each time I attend a live show. Prices for the drinks are high, but it is Downtown Kansas City after all. Attended Above and Beyond on March 13th and have never felt more of an experience than I did here. As well as Excision the night after, upstairs, and was very satisfied with my experience. I would highly recommend this venue to any one wanting to see any show here.
