Associated Supermarket

Honestly this supermarket is pretty decent, but the smell. The smell is something that turned me off the first time. It smells really weird in there, very musty. But you'll get used to it. Great place.

Great selection and prices for processed and pre-packaged food...better quality produce for cheaper prices can be found close by.

For the "old line" neighborhood supermarkets this place is a standout. Be prepared to be walking into an older market which isn't slick and trendy. But also be prepared to find just about everything you need. The have a surprisingly diverse selection of just about everything including a lot of ethnic specialty foods. They also have enough staff to properly keep the place running smoothly. Unlike a lot of the other older supermarkets around, there are always multiple cashiers open and I've never had to wait on a long line. But here is the biggest reason to go here: they always have a huge flyer with sale items. And when they say "on sale" they really mean it - like half the usual price or less. Most of the time you can do your shopping only buying stuff which is on sale and walk out with a few bags of groceries for HALF of what they would cost at most of the other local places.

Nice to see the local “stupormarket” is as slow and inefficient as ever. Hopefully Trader Joe’s and wholefoods will move in across the street so I can kiss this place goodbye via extinction.

We are so lucky to have our Stuyvesant Town Associated Supermarket. I have a car and do most of my shopping in NJ where everything is cheaper, but Associated is pretty good on prices (considering rent they pay) and I have found everyone in the store to be very nice and helpful. The deli makes great sandwiches and the store has very good sales each week. It is crowded at times and aisles are tight, but this is Manhattan!!
