Scheduling is an absolute nightmare. I was on hold for forty minutes just to cancel an appointment. The doctor I was seeing was very dismissive. I tried to schedule a colonoscopy after being a patient here for four months and they told me I’d have to wait almost three months to get one done. I switched to another place and was able to get one scheduled two weeks out.
Both my husband and I have already paid twice for the same service last year and we received the third notices to pay the same amount, or they will be sent to collectors otherwise. It's a total scam.
The billing department for Atlanta Gastro has been a total nightmare. They have failed to update our insurance after months of requests to do so. They then sent us to collections without fixing our insurance and despite saying they would not do this.
I have been trying to get assistance from the infusion coordinators at this location for over a month now. I take a medication who’s manufacturer offers a copay assistance program which reduces the patient cost of the medication to $5. I am enrolled in the program, however, the staff here hasn’t sent the required information to the program despite being asked several times now. I have called and left several messages every few weeks, but I have gotten no reply. This has forced me to spend thousands of dollars for a medicine that helps me stay healthy when the drug cost could be $5 for each infusion. I have had great experiences with my physician and care team at Atlanta Gastroenterology, however the infusion coordination team has been frustrating to say the least. I am left feeling like no one here will advocate for the patient, and I strongly recommend seeking infusion services elsewhere if possible.
If you are a young adult with Crohns/UC I highly recommend you seek routine treatment elsewhere. The front desk staff is great but every doctor I’ve seen from this practice is extremely dismissive, and will make you wait several weeks/months for an appointment that ends up being rushed through & lasts about 7 minutes.
Avoid this center at all costs, their scheduling is an absolute nightmare. My husband has to get infusions on a six week schedule. One might think you could schedule at least 2-3 infusions at a time. It isn't hard, I do that regularly at ANY OTHER DOCTOR'S OFFICE. This practice seems to have no clue as to how to manage that. And it wouldn't matter anyway because they reschedule constantly due to their almost impressive level of disorganization. - "we have to reschedule, we are moving offices that day". You can't move on a weekend? -"we have to reschedule, we are learning our new computer system". Again, weekends? -"we have to reschedule, there's been some confusion with the schedule and we don't have a nurse today".....what. - "we have to reschedule, we overbooked". How do you manage to not have controls in place for that? This place is awful, I wouldn't recommend it to anyone until they get their act together.
If you expect Doctors that care, this is not the place to be seen. It takes days for them to call you back, weeks to make an appointment and their only solution is “go to the emergency room.” Don’t get me wrong, they’ll figure out what the problem is, but they have no intention of treating or solving it; only pinpointing. After being seen by multiple doctors thinking maybe the first one or two were just a bad match, it’s the entire practice. They take on FAR more patients than they can accommodate and the patients pay for that literally and figuratively. I understand doctors offices aren’t exact on timing, but I’ve waited for over an hour in the waiting room each visit. Their MAs do not care. They’re part of the problem. Do yourself a favor and go to Emory’s GI doctors. They’ll actually treat your issue and treat you like a person rather than a number.
Our doctor was amazing but everything else was such a bad experience. If you can see someone else do it. You can NEVER get anyone to pick up and i see why, every time we go in to see Gupta the nurses let the phones ring while they talk about their morning or something. I have to spam call them for anyone to pick up. Everytime I've had to get a medical record for someone like for disability, they say they will do it but they never do. I've had to stay ON the line with them to get them to send it to me and I had to fax everything myself. This has happened multiple times. We had finally gotten fed up with this place because it seems like the associates don't want to do anything that they are supposed to be doing, the calls, appointments that we had set where not actually set, we even had a nurse push in medicine into a iv drop really fast and cause me to break out into a severe allergic reaction. Nothing was done about this. And we had to get like get them to call and cancel their certifications on my insurance and they wouldn't do it had to call and do it myself and they also say they won't to referrals so I have to find a new doctor to get a referral to a new gastroenterology. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!
They mess up appointments and don’t keep patients in the loop. One doctor doesn’t agree with another and the ONLY person that SUFFERS is the PATIENT. Supposed to have a procedure but they scheduled it as an office visit — the result ? The schedule being backed up for a month. When you call them to get it fixed they don’t “understand “ and can’t do anything about it. Leave voice messages and they don’t get back. Extremely disorganized health system, I can’t imagine what everyone else might have to deal with. Extremely frustrating. Sadly the doctors don’t handle the phone calls, so while they may have great physicians, no one wants to deal with people that work in an office that are unorganized and messing up appointments.
Had a routine colonoscopy and was very impressed with the staff. Dr. Peji is terrific with a lovely bedside manner. The entire team is incredibly efficient but still warm and personable. My appointment was at 9:30. They ask you to arrive 45 minutes early which I did. I was out by 10:30! Highly recommended.
