I feel I was cheated when I reached Avis Rental. In the beginning everything was going smooth, until I was told that i have to buy additional insurance. Initially when i made the reservation it showed me that insurance is included and I was given an option for Personal injury Insurance for 10 Euros per day which I declined and I have my own personal travel insurance. I was offered and told that I have to buy additional insurance for 30 Euros per day. If i am into any accident or incident i Will minimum have to pay 2200 Euros from my pocket. I felt mandatory and deceived to buy the insurance which is not fair. I was told that when anyone makes online insurance from outside EU they have to buy additional insurance while picking up the vehicle. I want this to be escalated and would like someone to contact me to resolve my dissatisfaction. Looking forward to hear from a manager.
Be careful with Avis in France. The company makes extra charges after paying for your rental rate in your credit card. One week after with no explanation I was charged 2.5 days, they don’t answer the phone, and in the attention by email they tell you they don’t really know what the extra charges are from. Terrible, choose a different rental.
Terrible company. Employees sitting around doing nothing while line formed. Did not honor any sort of Avis status. Heard the woman in front of me booked an automatic, but was given a manual instead which she could not drive. Charged me an extra $42 out of nowhere because of an alleged ticket they receive, but did not even give me a copy of the ticket or send me details so I could find it. Book at your own risk. Poor location and terrible company.
booked thru qeeq, all went ok. a little bit slow on the queue, charged me a $70 processing fees for a ticket. other than that the car was good and the return was fast. would rent again.
We were charged more than $100 for damages that we documented beforehand. They refuse to respond to our emails with pictures of the damaged license plate taken before pickup. Do not trust their damages reports.
It took us more than 2 hours to get a car. We spent 80 min waiting for the car to be brought to the pick up location after all the processing and payment were already finished. 75-80 minutes!!! I kid you not! Really? This is after we had a 9 hours flight! Mind you, the car was ordered and paid for in advanced. Its not like they had a surprise.
Be CAREFUL with extra insurance charges. A very kind guy with an intentionally bad English included an “extra full insurance” in our receive with no asking. We discovered it after paying, but before leaving the airport. He said it was a mistake that he will fix during the day. NO WAY, it was never fixed until we returned to the office our last day and complain about that. Finally they didn’t charged the extra insurance. Be aware of extra charges in your finale contract before paying.
Like others on this - I would say avoid this Avis. We were very clear that we already had insurance coverage and she still added additional insurance and other coverage. This was a 22 day rental! She deliberately had us sign an electronic signature pad without showing the add-ons and then emailed the contract so that we didn't see it until arriving at a hotel many km away. This was deliberately deceitful. This was not a language barrier, my husband speaks fluent French. We tried calling to complain but they never answer the phone. So I must add that when we did return the car, the agent who helped us was extremely helpful and apologetic and removed the additional charges. We ended up paying what we had pre-booked and agreed to....but we had three weeks of thinking about being scammed. This experience led me to cancel Avis reservations I had in other parts of Europe. I will never use Avis again outside of the USA.
Waited about 45 minutes for a car that was already book several weeks in advance. « Tricked » me to pay for extra insurance when I clearly stated I didn’t want any, which ended up to an extra 200 bucks when I had already prepaid everything at time of booking. They make you sign on a tablet for the booking, not saying that you are signing for the extra insurance… The car itself was what I expected nothing to say here. Only issue was with experience at the counter and the extra bill a week later by email.
I rented a car online from budget works together with AVIS. Because I have my private i surance I didn't ask for any extras. I also said no when the assistant in the rental place asked me if I want to add any extras. Then it took over 5 minutes while she did not talk to us but obviously had some problems finding a car for us. At the end all was arranged and made me sign the tablet. Apparently I signed the contract at this point, that I have not seen, and was not able to read until I returned the car when they finally sent the contract to me. Then came the surprise that they did add the extra damage waiver and windscreen protection to my contract so I was later charged by an extra 160 Euros.
