I liked the way they offer their food. And definitely the taste. They will give you as much as you want. The dessert was the best part. The nun was delicious too. If you like Indian food, this is the place for you. I’ll definitely try it again, when I come back to NY.
Just had a fabulous meal here! The food is flavorful and delicious with a solid variety of options. The food is basically already prepared so you get your meal quickly. The service is attentive and friendly. Atmosphere is calm and comfortable so you end the meal really feeling great, especially after all the veggies you ate. Menu rotated but I really enjoyed the fried veggie cake, lentils and broccoli-potato dish. The rice pudding dessert is good too.
The food was pretty good overall. I would rate 7 out of 10 in terms of taste, however it was like home cooked food without too much oil, so it didn’t feel too heavy. Plus of course they were able to easily customize the thali to be vegan. If I actually lived in this area I am sure I would visit this place quite often.Dine in: YesOutdoor seating: Yes
Incase if you're visiting this place thinking they serve Indian food, DO NOT. Food was extremely bland and lacked flavor. This would be a good place for you if you cannot handle the spice as everything is extremely bland. They only serve the Thali and you do not find the ala carte option. The hosts were friendly and welcoming.
This place is very cozy and have a sense of tranquility. If you're in a mood for some good clean vegetarian food especially Indian then definitely come here. The waitress was very sweet as well. I would love to come back. Enjoy!
We were in NYC for a Anti Fur protest march and after a whole day of that were looking for a place to eat vegan food without breaking the bank. Ayurveda Cafe serves vegan and vegetarian food and their unique menu du jour and eat all you can concept along with the healthy cooking style with very little oil and spices were an ideal match for our needs. We dined on Papad, veg. fritters, a curry of broccoli and potatoes, another curry of eggplant and peas, a lentil Daal and Indian bread spread with olive oil and brown and/or white rice. The meal ended with a confection named coconut burfi which was the best part of the meal. Of my dining companions one was a Pilipino and another American and yet another Indian and we all unanimously found the food highly palatable. The service is also quick and courteous. In addition, the restaurant serves Indian wines and beers to accompany the meals. The abundance of the quality food and the simple ambiance makes a great location even for a business meal on a low budget for vegans and vegetarians. We had the pleasure to meet the owner who is a very accomplished chef, restaurateur, actor, film maker and the founder of a yoga organization, too. A must visit restaurant for a novel experience.
What an awesome place. Set menu is awesome. Feels ‘real’ & healthy. The owner is super nice and the entire vibe just feels down to earth. Super glad we found it. Oh, and vegetarian
Love. Love. Love. I have been coming to Ayurveda Cafe for a few years now. I love that there is no menu and I am always pleased by the simple yet delicious plates. I come here when I am craving warm, home-cooked food, to ground and center myself. The staff is lovely, love their spiced tea, and always remember to take a fortune on your way out
I Love the place. Such a healthy and filling meal. All natural, no meats all vegetarian. It's not an expensive place, and the Indian spices, sooo tasty.
North Indian vegetarian meal which is 'unlimited' Indian phrase for all you can eat. After a tiring walk at Central park accidentally discovered this place, went there and had a nice Indian meals after missing it for a few days. The owner was there when I had the lunch and he was kind enough to share his work with Indian movies like 'Shivaji' and 'Vettaiyadu Vilaiyadu'. He seems to be a movie buff. So if you are a Indian cinema fan, do have a conversation with him. Also if you are into Art of Living yoga.
