Fun shop with lots of beautiful selections from reasonably priced $20 bottles two more impressive collectible one is better. Good quality alcohol and pretty to look at. The only reason for a four-star review is because there was an obvious tasting of a bottle going on between the locals and the shop owners and when I asked for a little taste they said that they were done with a bottle. I think for the purposes of new customers they should always have a little sip or two to offer for a tasting that would go a long way in sales especially on a New Year's Eve. After all the customers with a little bit of blood alcohol level I'm much more likely to splurge on $180 bottle of tequila that I absolutely adored and would be much more likely to buy if I had a sip of wine. I think in our culture when we have a guest over we try to always offer them something even if it's a small gesture. The bond lady was very hospitable and really knew her wine and
Great location, great selection, friendly staff. I’ll be coming back here for all wine and whiskey needs. Thank you!
I love this place! Always a welcome smile under a mask! & lots of friendly neighborhood people coming in and out of the store. not a bad collection of wine either ; I've found some hidden gems here, things that are hard to find elsewhere
This is by far the best wine store in DC, The wonderful knowledgeable team and the man himself Bassam, always knows his stuff and works with your budget whatever that may be. Lots of great finds in here and interesting conversations.
I live in VA and often come into Bacchus because of the insane inventory! Everything is clearly bought with a personal touch. This is a treasure trove of what ever your budget allows! Great neighborhood culture spot! You never know who may just drop in? Local people to iconic celebrities seem to drop by to quench their tastes and get insight into Washingtonian culture and gossip. Even in a time of Covid. Clean and friendly environment. Bassam seems to know how to attract people with great tastes.
The best selection of hard to find wines in DC. I don't know how they manage to do it in such as small place. The wine and whiskey clubs are fabulous deals. It is a Georgetown establishment that has something for everyone.... from epicurean to every day varieties of wine, beer and spirits. Ask for Max or Bassam.
Bacchus Wine Cellar is the kind of store that really makes you feel part of a neighborhood. Super friendly staff, great tasting events, and, of course, an excellent selection of wine and spirits. A real asset to upper Georgetown!
Just went there yesterday, and they were holding a wine tasting with multiple people not wearing masks. Even when we went in, no one put their masks on. Unbelievably inconsiderate and unsafe. This happened at peak COVID cases. Prices are also way overly marked up.
Beautiful wine cellar with a fantastic selection! The prices were reasonable as well. Staff always wore masks when I was there so kudos to that.
Our group paid for a wine tasting here. We got kicked out for being loud. We weren’t being mean or messing around, just talking and enjoying ourselves with the other group also doing the wine tasting. Very disappointing, I won’t be returning.
