I noticed the people that gave low reviews for Dr. Barrios have tons of other bad reviews they gave other places too. These are not factual. In my opinion it is super rare to find a doctor that doesn’t treat you like a number, instead he actually cares about you as a patient and person. I don’t see how some people feel that’s unprofessional. I worked many years in the medical field and feel very fortunate to have met Dr. Barrios. He is knowledgeable, kind and humble. If he doesn’t treat what specific problem you have he will refer out to a specialist that he knows for sure is good. I can’t give an opinion on his staff because I have not dealt with them much. He is very hands on with his practice and doesn’t hide behind a staff.
Absolutely incredible. I did not think there were still PCP’s like this doctor outside of $10,000/year private “concierge” doctors. Dr. Barrios’ office is super super easy to get ahold of and talk with. They work with my insurance, PBM, and pharmacy far more efficiently/effortlessly than any of my other doctors offices or major hospital clinics. Painstakingly detailed records are kept during each appointment and thoroughly reviewed both before and during each appointment. Dr. Barrios works incredibly hard to find the root causes for my ailments but also never hesitates to tell me where I am misguided about something and where to proceed with caution and monitoring before seeking any intervention. He takes SO MUCH quality time with me each appointment that I almost feel bad for using up his day! Wait times are normal, just 10-20 minutes. I am just so impressed with his personal attention and care; I think this is nearly impossible to find anywhere else these days. I am very super confused by some of the low ratings here. He is far too diligent for my experience to just be luck of the draw. It is clear that he stays up to date educating himself on the latest literature and best practices for a wide variety of issues. Medicine isn’t just his day job, it’s clear that it’s a lifelong passion for Dr. Barrios. When he encounters something new he studies it in great detail and constantly reassesses whether the practices he’s learned in the past are still considered to be the best practices to address the problem. He approaches unexpected information with an attitude of “I think there is probably either something I can learn today or some details that I might be missing that I need to ask the patient to right questions to find out” rather than just dismissing unexpected things with the more typical “No. That other doctor is wrong because it is not the same as what I would do.” He will definitely question you a bit more if some of the things you say don’t quite make sense, rather than just moving on and leaving holes in the details. He is very pleasant to work with and is very patient, and understands personalities and people well. He wants you to live with as much health and comfort as possible and will push you follow up on proper tests and care, and encourage you to make the right choices for your long term well-being. His offices are pretty bare-bones. They lack glitz/glamour and are not part of a large integrated facility building. You do have to go to another building/facility to get the tests he orders but his staff is amazing at getting these orders sent in to nearby facilities before you even walk out. It’s usually just a 5 minute drive to x-rays, blood tests, and MRI’s at a nearby convenient Memorial Hermann center. I feel super lucky that I found Dr. Barrios.
Dr. Barrios truly is a great doctor! Its difficult to find a PCP who shows empathy, is attentive, actual listens to what you have to say before responding, and looks to find solutions rather than writing off your concerns. A gem that I am grateful to have found.
Dr. Barrios is like the Dr. House version of a PCP. He is incredibly thorough and in depth with his care. If you are looking for a physician that will truly do what he can do to treat you, Dr. Barrios is who you are looking for.
Dr. Barrios is a good doctor. He is friendly, approachable, and an attentive person that cares about his patients. Of all the doctors I've had he has been the one that's spent the most amount of time with me per visit. And this may be why some of the earlier reviews were complaining about delays. He is very thorough. He doesn't kick you out of his office in less than 10 mins to meet a daily quota. I have had to wait for an appointment myself, I won't lie, but the wait was reasonable, where I waited was comfortable, they always apologized if I had to wait and I was treated well. I would say the staff are nice but are on the "shy" side. So they're not going to chat you up like some other clinics. It doesn't mean they don't like you. They are just quiet people. Beyond all of this Dr. Barrios pays close attention to my health and how I am doing. He has provided me with a good treatment plan, and provides guidance when I am not doing well but never in a preachy annoying way some other doctors can. I trust him and I am glad to be under his care. The clinic is clean, comfortable, well maintained with plenty of parking. Dr. Barrios' schedule can be congested, don't expect to call the day of and get an appointment but the front desk folks will work with your schedule and get you in.
I don’t understand why there are people saying he is a good doctor because he is not. There is a lot of questionable practice that he is doing. Also, compared to other doctors that I had seen in my life, Dr Octavio was far the least professional. He won’t tell me my results on the phone and asked me to come to his practice to tell me, and I had to pay to come in. The first time I had an appointment with him, he talked about his personal problems as if I was his therapist. Lastly, his facility doesn’t do blood work on the spot and I had to drive to somewhere else to do it.
Dr. Barrios, has been my doctor for more than 15 years. I have followed him and Lucy, from Deer Park, through Pasadena to Houston. I cant say enough about how kind he is and how important it is to be open and honest about any concerns you have. He is a very down to earth guy and so isMs. Lucy. They are a my reward for being good in another life.

Most painful experience at a doctor's office so far. I sat in the entrance hall for 20 minutes while the receptionist was gossiping with somebody, and then had to wait 2 hours in the waiting room for a nurse to be available because the doctor couldn't see me I needed a 'lady' prescription and the doctor is male. It was an in-network visit and after filling out tons of paperwork, including authorizing them to access my medical records - just to get a prescription -, I received a $165 bill from my insurance 5 months later because they didn't enter my information correctly. I will never be back, for sure.
Dr. cares. He went above and. beyond for me today
