Bear Run Nature Reserve

A beautiful place for a walk in the woods. Best Run Nature Reserve is nestled in the hills of southwestern Pennsylvania about an hour and a half southeast of Pittsburgh. It consists of many trails and gravel/dirt roads. These roads can be in rough condition so I would advise an all-wheel drive or four-wheel drive vehicle with ample ground clearance, especially after heavy rain or after snow fall. It can be hard to access depending on where you are coming from so a GPS is highly recommended.

I'm probably slightly biased on my five star review, seeing as how I've been obsessed with falling water since I was a little boy. But don't let that stop you from visiting. Whether you're a fan of architecture or not, this sprawling home, designed by famous architect Frank Llyod Wright, is absolutely breath taking. From walking the wooded grounds, to taking in all the detail inside the home, it will stop you in your tracks. And being a fan of Wright and all of his works this was an incredible experience for me. So if you are a fan I highly recommend seeing this home for yourself. Tickets are relatively inexpensive, but you need to be sure to get them ahead of time, for you do need a reservation. Honestly I think the drive alone is worth it, it's so beautiful, absolutely worth every penny to experience this place.

Great place for a hike. I tested the Orange trail and had a blast. Beautiful with snow on the ground.
