Beckworth LLC is your Northern Virginia remodeling company specializing in remodeling and design but also has a light commercial division.
Beckworth is a residential remodeling and design firm with a light commercial division.
Our number one focus is to create a phenomenal experience for our clients. This starts the moment our client contact us all continues all the way through the completion of their project. We do all this while staying within their budget.
We are a different kind of remodeling company. We don’t do things the same old way that most remodeling companies do in our industry.
The entire company was built upon the premise of looking at it thought our customer’s eyes and what they need to have a really great experience.
Any company can build a great finished product. With that being said it’s the process to get to the finished product that makes the difference. So, this is what we focus on.
We offer many different types of remodeling services such as; kitchens, bathrooms, basements, additions, pop-up additions, whole house remodels, general remodeling, screen porches, front porches, commercial remodeling, etc.
Nick entered the remodeling industry in 1995. He had the unique opportunity to consult with several different remodeling companies both large and small. He had the opportunity to see inner workings of these companies.
What Nick learned during his time with these companies was this, there are some good companies in the industry. He also learned that there are some very questionable companies out there.
Here are two examples Nick gave me of the behind the scenes at remodeling companies.
1) It is illegal to charge tax on the labor portion of any remodeling project. I’m sure you can guess it. There are many companies that know this but still charge tax to the consumer on labor. Most homeowners don’t know this because we live in a society that we pay tax on virtually everything. It’s illegal and unethical.
2) I assume you have heard the term change order. This is where the homeowner adds on additional work or the company finds things that need to be added on i.e. plumbing in a wall that is being removed. To the homeowner it’s known as a change order but to many companies it’s known as a job enhancement. It’s known as a job enhancement because the carpenter gets a commission if they sell it to you. This is a conflict of interest for the homeowner. The carpenter is supposed to be your advocate but if they make a commission by selling you something you may or may not need is not good business. Nick even called it unethical.
Nick started Beckworth to change the industry. To do things in an honest, ethical way. Everything Beckworth does is upfront and transparent. A couple of examples of Nick and Beckworth changing the industry are these. The pricing is all open book. This is true open book. The homeowner gets to see every invoice as well as our overhead, profit, etc. Nothing is hidden. One other example is that no one in the company is on commission. This way the consultant can truly be your advocate. There are many other things that Nick and Beckworth do di
