Big Horn Olive Oil Company - Las Vegas

I am posting 2 stars because of my experience yesterday. I even took the night to think about it before rating. On the advice of a friend I drove quite a distance to visit this store. When I walk into a specialty store where I know I am paying a premium for whatever I'm purchasing I expect a certain level of service. When my husband and I walked into the store the clerk was helping another customer with what appeared to be a large order. She yelled out a hello (which is fine) but didn't stop there. She continued to tell us loudly about the "rules" of tasting which included not putting our fingers in the vinegars and oil while we are tasting. What I expect is that the clerk would say hello and acknowledge our presence and tell us she will be with us in a moment. Or, she could hand us the "rules" on a card - this would have taken a few seconds. I don't appreciate being treated like I don't know how to act like a civilized person from the moment I walk into anyone's business. I'm sure they have had bad experiences with customers not understanding tasting protocols or simply not having common sense. This is no excuse. I expect a little class and grace from employees when I walk into a specialty store such as the Big Horn Olive Company. It's part of the experience when purchasing specialty or high-end products. I would LOVE to support my local businesses but why would I when the experience isn't positive? I ended up buying a bottle of vinegar but will not return to this store. I was ready to tell all my friends about this cool little store. I will still tell them about my experience - and encourage them to just buy online.

Your place is as lovely as the Santa Barbara Wine Country. The tastes of the herbs, Sicilian, orange, these are olive oils and balsamic vinegars I am talking about - BIG HORN Olive Oil Company reminds you how good it is to shop in Summerlin. Dear Julie Young, owner of the Olive Oil Company; Much appreciation for your gift. Delicious. Healthy. Plus the holiday of Purim is here. Rabbi Yitz Wyne reminds us that Passover is one month away. Julie showed me her paperwork from the Orthodox Union, Union of Orthodox Jewish Congregations of America, and explained to me what was Kosher. Thank you Julie for the gift basket, gift ideas, and the recipe book for your custom blended vinegar and olive oils. Your gift baskets are outstanding. Exactly what I needed for my friend's gift. I was at a shredding event this morning with Councilman Bob Beers and he highly recommended your store for gifts. Plus the Thai restaurant next door has that tempura spinach salad that all the chefs are talking about eating.

I love this place! The oils and vinegars are fresh and delicious! Plan to spend time learning about and tasting while there; well worth it. Staff is very friendly and helpful.

Learned a lot about olive oil and these folks are very passionate about what they do. The olive oils and vinegars taste amazing. Get them.
