Blick Art Materials

One of 3 places in the valley to walk-in to buy art supplies. Only located on University just west of the ASU campus in Tempe, a smaller store that is packed with virtually every art supply or tool one could need. I particularly like Blick for large containers of acrylic paints (1/2 gallon), a huge selection of individual drawing tools (versus packaged at other stores), special deals, and a fantastic selection of handmade and unusual papers, as well as a large variety of hot/cold press large papers. When you join Blick's free club, you are guaranteed the lower price of an item in store vs online. Often, they carry unusual art tools/supplies that the ASU teachers require. The checkout line also displays a variety of fun, artsy things great for gifts or to satisfy your crazy explorations, such as a plugin selfie flash for my smartphone. Bottom line, it's definitely an art supply store to check out!

I ordered a cradled wood substrate (a hardboard panel 30" x 40" x 1.5" deep). It arrived in a timely manner but was dented on one side and warped. When I placed it on a level surface, it rocked. I also placed a 4 ft level across it to double check if the warp was bad enough that I could not use it. It cupped in the center and was definitely higher on the ends. This was Dick Blick's own line of hardboard substrates. It should be a completely flat panel, so I returned it to them. The agent was very nice and made the return easy. However, this is not the first time I've ordered something from Dick Blick and had problems of some sort. I'm very quickly losing faith in their warehouse staff.

Great variety, I can spend hours looking for supplies! Prices reflect the quality! All different mediums and different brands to choose from!

I think it is the best art supplies store in the Phoenix metro area, with a friendly, knowledgeable staff.

I'm giving blick a 3 only because the prices were much more expensive then online. When I got to the store I don't feel that the price difference was way different then online. The associate that I asked about the prices seemed as if he was in a rush to assist me. I didn't feel comfortable to ask for any other assistance. I'm I was still charged 6.92 after being told by the associate with purple hair that I would get the same price as online which was $3.97.
