They lied to me when I looked for a health plan. I am type 1 diabetic and was promised that insulin would not have to be paid from the deductible, it would be free because it’s considered preventative. Well I figured out that they screwed me when the pharmacist asked for 2k. They refused to let me talk with someone who can make decisions. And they didn’t care that I can’t afford my insulin anymore which I need to survive. If that’s nit considered preventative, what is?! I terminated the coverage after 1 month as I have to pay everything 100% anyways. Now I am without health insurance until the next open enrollment period. Well done BCBS, well done! Not to mention your incompetent customer care staff. I might as well talk to a wall.
They deserve 0 star. They are absolutely unhelpful and irresponsible. Specifically the billing department and the claims department. Multiple times I wasted hours and hours on the phone with no one having an answer for me. They had no clear answer why my coverage was terminated without my knowledge or any warning and they do not take responsibility for their mistake unless you sue them. They outsources their customer support as well which makes it even more frustrating and pointless. No other way of contacting anyone and no information on the web on how to contact the right department when you need to. Forget about mailing they take a year to reply or the mail goes missing. Do not waste your time and money with this company.
One of the most poorly run companies in US history. I've been a member of both BCN and BCBS through employers for over a decade. The customer service is abysmal and surely is within the lowest quartile measuring customer satisfaction. The claims almost never go through without issue and need for appeal. Which drops you into the poor customer service experience. Most recently, I've called on two different occasions simply looking for information on a plan I am researching switching to, to ensure my doctor's participate. In both instances, I was stuck in a swirling vortex of doom, being transferred from one customer service group to Health Plan Advisors and back. 8 transfers per call just going back and forth. This company should be ashamed of the product they deliver to their customers. If you are lucky enough to not be forced into being a customer through your employer, avoid at all costs!
Terrible company...find another insurance!!! Outdated and they take way too long to process your claims. They do not have a web site or a fax number to upload information to get your claims paid faster. The claims department and authorization department do not communicate with each other. Absolutely ridiculous!!!
My plan with BCBSM is supposed to cover prenatal care 100%. I have received charges for almost $900 so far for a routine blood test, one visit with obstetrics, and 2 ultrasounds. When speaking with a customer service representative I was told that they "decided" not to cover certain charges, such as specific routine blood tests!!! My only recourse is to file an appeal, which will likely be denied. I cannot believe the cruelty, deception, and corruption that is allowed to run rampant in our healthcare system, with BCBSM being one of the worst culprits. This is shameful and it drives hardworking people to bankruptcy just to pay fraudulent health care bills. BCBSM should be ashamed.
You took my money for 22 years from my employer and can’t help my daughter. She was involved in a car accident but you don’t cover. She needs to be in rehabilitation center, but they won’t take my insurance. I call but no one help. 22 years and no customer service.
Outsourcing their customer service was a huge mistake. Absolutely awful. Cannot get through to speak to someone in a timely manner and when you do they can't understand what you are asking. Not everything can be done online.
its a good thing they are subsidized by the state. these guys couldnt find their butt with both hands. call the number on your card/ i did that not the right number. then i got the number to the main orifice getting past the robot was a huge challenge. sometimes its best to just stay on the line rather than answer the prompts. i tried saying my membership number "not a valid response" I finally got through one thing about me i am a bludgeon i will not stop. finally i got to talk to a very nice person four transfers later. i was told what i already knew but just wanted to confirm. thanks for nothing BCBS. you havent changed since when i first got you 80 years ago. you probably will never change. you get paid whether you work or not.
Terrible customer service. I was on the phone for over 3 hours today with them, spoke to 5 different representatives including supervisors, and got conflicting information and no answers. From the final rep, I asked him to send me in writing what he was telling me but he wouldn't. They've given me dozens of numbers for Durable Medical Equipment vendors, I have called all of them and not a single number has worked - many numbers aren't in service, some don't work with BCBS, and none have carried the equipment I need. 2 of the 3 BCBS reps say I can pay out of pocket from anywhere instead of going through an approved DME since they can't even give me one that works and file a claim but they couldn't confirm if it would be covered or not.
