Six months ago, as I was feeling the affects of a few years of too many long hours at my desk job and far too little exercise, I vowed to get back into an exercise routine and was fortunate enough to find Bob. At roughly the same time, I re-started a table tennis hobby I had begun several years ago and then abandoned, partly because it was tough on my shoulders and knees. I'm happy to say that six months later, thanks to Bob's careful work strengthening and stabilizing my shoulders, knees, and hips as well as building core strength, etc., I've been able to play table tennis a few times a week without injury knock on wood. In general I feel stronger and more fit, have more energy, and have slimmed down some. As a personal trainer and also a licensed massage therapist, Bob seems to understand how bodies work--and how to strengthen them, protect them from injury, and increase range of motion. Bob is also a thoughtful, positive, and kind person who made a point of understanding my goals and preferences and then created exercise routines tailored to my needs. I'm sure Bob is capable of pushing people who need it, but he's not at all the brash, drill sergeant type of personal trainer. I highly recommend Bob to anyone who needs a personal trainer and values a thoughtful, low-key approach.
He is unfailingly on time and always well-prepared. After many years away from a fitness regimen and proper nutrition, I was skeptical that I could exercise and eat healthy. He has allayed my fears by being encouraging and especially sensitive to ensuring that the activity is not overly taxing. On a personal level, he is warm and caring and possesses an excellent sense of humor. All in all, the best experience I have ever had with a person in the health care field.
My mom is 82 years old and in good health but slowing down. She had stopped walking and was getting more unsteady, less willing to go out. She was resistant to seeing a "personal trainer" at first, but it has made a huge difference. Every time we leave Bob's, she says "I feel good! I always feel better after I leave there!" What's special about Bob is he really listens, empathizes, and pushes just enough. He is flexible and able to respond to how she's feeling that day. When her shoulder was hurting and she didn't feel like exercising, he did some massage with her. But the next week it was back to work! Since she started going to Bob, mom has started walking more and feeling much more positive about her health. We recommend him very highly!
I have loved working with BobFit for the past 2 months. He was able to tailor the workouts to my specific needs and to use the equipment that I already owned. I relied on the videos, since I do not live in the Portland area and they were short, informative and helpful. I felt motivated to complete each workout given and I was feeling stronger after just a few weeks! Thanks Bob for making workouts fun again!!
Bob was top notch. I had joined a bootcamp but the time and expense was excessive and Bob helped me setup my own personal bootcamp with his program. Bob was great at addressing my priorities and really listening to what I wanted and not giving up on helping me achieve my routine. At first I did not know if his program would work, but the hands on combined with the iOS app I was all in. He keep connecting almost on a weekly basis to ensure I was making progress. Bob's knowledge in massage, personal training expertise and dealing with people that have crazy schedules and crazy lives was the perfect match for me. Most importantly he help me put some routines together that he just adds to my schedule or I can just add to my schedule Super easy!!!. I have noticed that I am able to maintain my current weight and strength without loosing my progress from the past. Typically, I stop and just gain the weight and loose my stamina. I plan on keeping with Bob for the next several years and ensure that I can have a program that I can do at my gym, my personal gym and in my home. Give him a try, I am sure you will not regret it! In addition to all the usual benefits of BobFit, here's one that has recently surprised me: Some days, when Bob starts out by asking "How are you today?" and I go right into blabbing about my aches and pains, bad mood, whatever, Bob is happy to listen he means it when he asks BUT, after a minute or two, he will say: "Let's do some warmups while we're talking." Simple, right? But how often do we forget that it's possible to think/feel and move/do at the same time? Now, when I find myself sitting in a ruminating, calcifying lump, I might borrow Bob's voice to tell myself: "Let's do a few dishes walk around the block, stand up and stretch while we're thinking." It helps. Thanks, Bob!
BobFit has been an integral part of jump starting my exercise routine. He is knowledgeable, motivating, and a whole lot of fun.
