Cheap housing close to campus is cool, but the landlords are just trying to dime college kids who have no understanding of leases for what they can. The agent will show you around just fine, but the office lady you have never met will call to yell and demand fees not in the lease you've signed. You can get free legal advice on campus, but that can only help so far. What working, full time college student has the time or resources to legally fight back or even start to? Recommend reading all the paperwork thoroughly, knowing tenants rights, and don't rent from them in general. It's not worth the stress.
Also, posted this under a fake name under the advice of a friend who tried to post an honest poor review of their service and was confronted by them with claims of filing defamatory charges.

If you sign for a rental with Bock I suggest you read that lease front to back and make sure it's good when you leave. He is out to get every penny he can and take full advantage of college students. The place on hunt St was dirty when we moved in. We had a leaky fridge we requested to get fixed 3 times, Never happened. We lived without a handle on our stove for two years. Mold all over the bathrooms. And on top of all that he took our whole deposit plus $3000 extra dollars.

Of the real estate professionals I've worked with in the Des Moines area, Steve Bock is so far ahead of the rest that he's in a class by himself. He worked closely with me and my lending institution to successfully list and close a short sale for my home when it became a distressed property. (If you think the property was distressed, you shoulda seen the owner!) A short sale of your home is something you never want to go through; it's a devastating experience. Steve made it manageable; he was an excellent liaison, the perfect professional that you want in your corner. I am eternally grateful to him and his staff, and I have no hesitation in recommending him without reservation.

We used Bock Real Estate Group to purchase our new home. Steve was very accommodating and patient with us and our search. Also, the closing process was very smooth with great communication as to what steps were next and when everything was going to happen.

Choose this place because it was close to Campus and the price was decent compared to other apartments. But from the beginning, the landlords were not accommodating. They were also contradicting, saying we were okay to do something then turning around and saying we couldn't. They tried to say we couldn't have an animal even though we signed a lease saying we could. They would take several days to answer to our service request. We were without a shower for a whole week before they responded to us. And overall they just weren't nice people.
