If you haven't been to this southern classic cafe in NOLA, you just have not fully experienced the NOLA. The food is just awesome -- always well prepared and carefully seasoned! The intoxicating, welcoming southern care and hospitality made our dining experience an extraordinary one!
Craving for Crawfish Étouffée since we arrived in NOLA. A quick search on Yelp led us to this little joint. Bon Ton Cafe located in the downtown area which not far away from the tourist spots, but this place haven’t fill out by tourists. We came here around 11: 30 am in the morning, and the restaurant was getting packed since the business hour started. We can see many of the customers are locals. We knew Bon Ton Cafe is the place we had been looking for. Ambiance: 5/5 The restaurant looks very old- style, which you can see in many old fashioned American movies. Service: 5/5 The staffs are super friendly and attentive. Ordered: Crawfish Étouffée 5/5: The best Crawfish Étouffée that we had in NOLA, overflowing peeled Crawfish! It’s absolutely NOLA Only dish. Oyster Alvin, with seasoned Rice 5/5: seems like deep fried oysters Étouffée. The oysters and mushroom Rice are soo good! The oysters are fresh and juicy. Highly recommend if you are looking for classic, authentic New Orleans Food.
Wonderful atmosphere. Great food, although I would change a few a things with menu items quality. It was a different take on Crawfish Jambalaya. Just rice, spices and crawfish, lots of crawfish, no sausage, onions or peppers.... Flavors were still amazing. Bread pudding is a must!
Came here just for dessert but was blown away by the lovely service, fabulous cocktail Rum Ramsey, and charming atmosphere of brick, wood, and light Mardi Gras touches. This is a restaurant I could easily spend time in and I would love to try their entrées. Dessert was indeed wonderful and worth a stop. I expect the savories will be just as delicious.
Not good at all! - Very pricey - Cajun? Not really... - Food was lukewarm when served - Had to season it...needed salt and pepper - onion rings were sloppy and half raw - took a while until we got food + Pinot noir was good We were sitting on a two person table at a window and it just smelled like piss from outside. Maybe people outside like the window so much, that they have to piss exactly on those windows...I don’t know. It’s just disgusting. Don’t know why people give that many good rates.
Quaint, intimate ambiance. The Shrimp Creole and very flavorful. You must try their Rum Ramsay cocktail. The fact the recipe is a secret adds to the allure, plus it's yummy.
This place been around for years since like 1900’s or something and the food was more like home cooking to me! Kinda of $$ but totally worth every penny! If you go to New Orleans I would recommend hands down!
Best crawfish etouffee in the city! The crawfish is succulent and plentiful. The bread pudding is some of the best I've had on NOLA. Definitely a place to eat at when you are in the area!
The crawfish etouffee and mustard greens were delicious! The Bon Ton Cafe was within close walking distance to my hotel on Canal Street, making the cafe a wonderful option for lunch during my conference break. The service was first class and efficient.
Best place to go for Cajun food restaurant! Worth coming back for this! Pictures here are Crawfish Étouffée, vegetable du jour and Turtle soup
