This place is awful! The nurses are lazy the doctors are egomaniacs who do NOT listen to family members. My mom developed bed sores on their watch, was denied basic needs and encouraged to pee in her pants. Kerry is an awful nurse. They nurses station was full of nurses just standing around while the patients all had their lights on. Dr. Aldridge is awful. The absolute worst doctor I have ever experienced! A resident with a huge ego who I wouldn't let take care of my goldfish. If you want to live go to a different hospital. Avoid this hospital at all costs.
Staff was pretty good at first. Talked to Deb whom seemed more interested in lecturing than what was going on with my daughter. Another women came I and asked about meds,. She didn't like that I said my daughter was taking her meds. I was just thinking out loud. Don't do that she was offended. In the end we were shown the door and were treated rudely. I would be very hesitant to go back. I doubt that anything will change based off this review but be careful. I really don't think they care.
I went in to be checked for strep throat instead they checked me for kidney failure and covid like I’m fully vaccinated. The doctor checked my throat and said yeah it looks swollen and then said the nurse will be in to take your blood to check for kidney failure not what I went there to be seen for I went in on Thursday January 2nd to be treated for sore throat but noooo they tested me for covid and kidney failure like what the heck I wish they would have just done there job correctly and treated me for what I was actually there to be seen for.
This place makes the worst possible hospital out of all that I have been through all over the country. ER department doesn't listen. I went in for one thing but they treated me for a possible heart problem. No where near the issue I went in for. Then in seeing Dr ferness at the family medicine clinic. Very rude, I needed a note for work saying I need to have the ability to sit down while working, I am disabled due to a back injury and have had a spinal fusion. Well that Dr refuses to give me said note. Now I will have to quit my job since without the Dr note I can not get accomodations for my disability. Go of you like but be prepared to be treated like a number on the board.
The Billing department was rude when I called. Went to the ER and the lady from front desk did not take the insurance properly so Was calling to the Billing department to ask about the medical bill and was taking more than 15 minutes to speak to the representative. When they pick up my call, she said there is the copy of Medicaid and hang up the phone. I was calling again to make sure they have insurance and they said there was no insurance information. I was asking to the billing department, should I come to hospital to give the insurance information and They were so angry to me even I talked nicely, and telling me to sent the copy of the Medicaid by mailing with angry voice. I am so scared to talk to the billing depart from Broadlands medical center. I swear to God this is the worst experience from Broadlands medical center. The ER experienced was bad too. They did not telling me the result after taking EKG or ECG and X ray.
I dont even know where to begin here. I went into the ER with severe abdominal pain. Could barely walk. I was assigned Dr Heely. I was checked in from 9pm until 3am. They ran blood tests urine tests, CT scan with dye and couldn't find anything wrong. Dr Heely states I must've pulled a muscle and to follow up with my primary care physician. I left the ER in pain with no prescriptions. I followed up with my primary 2 days later still in constant pain. My primary requested lab results and then informed me the labs show I have a kidney stone and that Broadlawns had sent a script to my pharmacist. I reached out to my pharmacist and was told no scripts were ever ordered by the ER. I called the ER back and was told their was a question mark next to my script on their paperwork so it never got ordered. The incompetency is just next level. I will never be returning and send the bill to collections so i can dispute it. Thanks
I went to urgent care and saw Lizabeth price. I have COPD and was all congested. I also had an earache with blood coming from my ear. She told me which she didn't nothing was wrong with me. Had to practically beg for eardrops and she was supposed to give a script for antibiotics which she didn't do. Id have done just as good with a person who isn't even a Dr. Horrible care
I would rate the workers in Radiology, Physical Therapy, transporters & Ophthalmology 5 Stars for their excellent care & kindness. The Pain Clinic and the Primary Care Clinic I would rate 0 Stars for them taking months to address my serious health conditions and for 2 doctors gas lighting me. I have Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome which has many co-mobilities, pain and POTs are extremely common with EDS people. I had 13 symptoms of Dysautonomia there are several types and a published medical study found that 74% of EDS patients in the study had POTs, a form of Dysautonomia. I told my Dr the symptoms I had and my concern that I might have a form of Dysautonomia. He rolled his eyes and said “Dysautonomia is extremely rare, you do not have Dysautonomia.” On a 2nd appointment I brought in my book “Disjointed” which is all about EDS & I showed the Dr thst Dysautonomia is very common eith EDS people. He again told me I did not have Dysautonomia & he did not order a tilt-table test or refer me to a cardiologist. So I referred myself to a Unity Point Cardiologist, who tested me for POTs on the 1st appointment and said “Yep, you have POTs “ which is a specific form of Dysautonomia. He changed my medications which greatly lowered the chest pain I had been dealing with for over 4 months, the POTs, High BP & Raynaud’s. The Broadlawns PCP Dr never acknowledged thst he had been wrong. Dr Horton at the pain clinic made me go thru 6 weeks of physical therapy & 4 months before she ordered an MRI of my Lumbar spine even though she suspected I had herniated discs on the 1st appointment. She gas lit me before ordering the MRI which did show 3 herniated discs saying “don’t you think your pain is psychological?” No! It was/is NOT psychological. I have EDS, multiple ribs which dislocate every day, SI joints that dislocate every day, scoliosis, myofacial pain from the muscles being not even due to the scoliosis AND 3 herniated discs. A Pain Clinic Dr should NEVER gas light a patient with multiple painful conditions. Absolutely unacceptable.
I booked an appointment 3 months in advance with Dr. Olesen a female doctor in the OBGYN department because all of their doctors were booking out that far. When I made the appointment I had specifically requested a pelvic exam by a female doctor, and also to discuss the possibility of infertility causes like PCOS since I haven’t been able to get pregnant in 2 years. I confirmed the appointment with Dr. Olesen the day prior over the phone. When I arrived at the clinic, they asked if I had any religious preferences and I again asked for female providers because I’m a hijabi Muslim. I was never told that Dr. Olesen would not actually be at my appointment by front desk staff. I then had three different MALE providers none of them the doctor I was scheduled and confirmed for come talk to me about my patient history, but none of them would even offer to physically examine me or get someone else who would be willing to examine me. I kept asking for a pap smear because I’m 25 and never had one and they wouldn’t even do that. I politely and calmly answered all of their questions, but was still was confused why nobody would even be willing to examine me. I would have been fine with a male doctor examining me in the event that no women were available, but none of them even offered or said that that was the case! I waited for three months only to be told that I didn’t “look like” I had PCOS despite nobody ever doing an ultrasound or a pelvic exam? The doctor finally got up and left and told me I was done and should leave. I’m upset now that I’ve left. I didn’t even receive a basic examination or care, and they completely ignored a basic religious accommodation. Nobody ever did explain why I wasn’t able to see the doctor I was scheduled for, either. Edit: I was billed $221 for this with no explanation of what services were even rendered. My insurance has already paid $65 of it. I keep playing phone tag with the Patient Advocate.
My sister may have died because Broadlawns didn't know about Rhizopus Fungal Pneumonia. It took 13 days for them to tell me she had this. What if they tested for it sooner. I was her power of attorney. They sent her to U of I and it got worse. She died. Please learn Broadlawns.
