I have had a very pleasant experience with this company. This is a wonderful place for my mom, she has access to a restaurant on site, a personal walkway to HEB, a pool, and tons of other perks and campus activities. The staff have been very welcoming and accommodating towards her. Kimmy and Brittany were most helpful in our situation also. My mother and I had a few of our own circumstances that got in the way during our move in process. It really complicated things. However, they both jumped through hoops and did a lot for us to help get her in, which is something they did not have to do, but did, because they care. I highly recommend this place to anyone in need of a senior living community or to someone who knows a loved one that is in need.
My mother loves living at Brookdale. We looked at multiple senior living facilities in the area and this one fit our needs perfectly. Everyone is so friendly and helpful that it made her transition very smooth and she has enjoyed living there since the first day. It is easy for her to get around on her scooter and very easy for her to take out her little dog. She feels secure and comfortable. The apartment was completely remodeled before she moved in and is beautiful with new cabinets, appliances, granite counter tops and new floors and carpet. The grounds are pretty and inviting with lovely places to sit and enjoy the views. My mother is happy, comfortable, safe and enjoying her life surrounding by lots of new friends. Thank you to everyone at Brookdale for your wonderful service and assistance to me and my family from the initial visit, planning for the move, to the move in and early transition.
When my wife and I moved into Brookdale we had just lost our house to a flood, my wife was injured and could no longer drive. We had visited several other places but this one just felt comfortable. The available activities meant that my wife had plenty of things to do without relying on me to take her somewhere. It was freeing for both of us. Seven years later we have no regrets; in fact, I wish we had made the move two years sooner. We made wonderful new friends, and not having to worry about cooking, cleaning, yardwork, etc. gave us much more free time.
My mom is safe and happy here. The staff in general is very kind. The chef is very hands on and responsive to concerns. Their turnover is amazingly low!! Sometimes things fall thru the cracks but it feels like family so you shrug and move on.
Brookdale West U is an amazing place for seniors. We placed my mom there in February 2019 but because of health issues she was never really able to enjoy all the amenities the location has to offer. However, while we were there my family loved the attention to detail and the care my mom received. Kim , the Executive Director, Martijn, Director of Sales and Marketing, and the entire team is just wonderful. They worked with us to get my mom moved to Brookdale Champion Oaks for Assisted Living when it became apparent that Independent Living no longer suited us. They are always running specials and offers but what you get for the price you pay is worth every dime and knowing your loved one is in a safe environment is priceless. I hate that we only spent 6 months there but in those 6 month, I saw friendly, caring faces. Brookdale West U is a jewel of a facility. Kim G.
Today is the official first day we moved Grandma all the way from Wisconsin to Brookdale West University, and our entire family is thrilled! This has been a year + process in the making, and we are amazed at the quality of the living experience here, in addition to the friendly and courteous staff who've made us feel welcome and at home ever since the beginning of our search. Grandma visited a dozen different independent senior living facilities throughout the Houston area starting last spring, and the moment we took a tour of Brookdale West University, Grandma told us "I don't want to visit any place else." She knew right away that this was where she wanted to be! Our wonderful Brookdale representative, Jessica, made Grandma and our entire family feel special right from the start, giving us all the attention Grandma needed, and answering every one of our plethora of questions. Jessica asked Grandma to pick 3 rooms that she would like on her wish list, and for the past year, Jessica has kept us posted on availability. Grandma wasn't planning to move in until next year, but in May, Jessica called and said the #1 choice of rooms was available in June, and Grandma knew at that point that this was a sign Brookdale West University was the right place for her. The residents we've met so far are happy and friendly, and on Day 1, Grandma had already met several of her neighbors, and even found a Skip-Bo group to join! Between the abundamce of daily activities, the happy hours, and the monthly family dinners complete with margaritas, beer, and live music, Grandma is going to be living a cruise ship life from here on out! What a perfect fit for Grandma and our entire family! Grandma looks forward to making Brookdale West University her new home and so do we!
I live out of town and lived here for 6 months, while undergoing cancer treatment, I truly felt the sense of community. I met some great people and made some wonderful friends. Whenever I wanted something to do there was always an activity going on. Lots of parties and fun with staff and residents. When I wanted to get out and have conversation, I could always find people down by the pool. I enjoyed my time here, I still go back and see friends, attend a happy hour or party. This is a great place to live.
Brookdale West University has been a good value in pursuing a satisfying life in an established well maintained environment of trees and lovely plants, with a very compatible social community.
Several months back I looked at independent living communities with my mother-in-law. She is a young 79 and still very capable of taking care of herself. Therefore, we did not want her to feel like she was moving to an “old folk’s home”. The layout of the community including the external access to the apartments worked better from this aspect. The community is in such a great location with lots of shops and restaurants close by with some even being in walking distance HEB, Walgreens, Starbucks. Not to mention convenient access to the Medical Center. The amount and variety of activities offered are excellent including field trips and entertainment at the community itself. We also found Brookdale West U very affordable considering the amenities and location. Another factor was that we wanted to understand as she got older if there were options to help her age in place. They have personalized living options that provides ala carte services when your loved one needs extra help. So far my mother-in-law is very happy here. She is meeting people and socializing. She likes the food offered at the on premises dining facility. The staff is very friendly. We feel very comfortable with our choice.
Brookdale is the perfect place for Mom! Safe, secure, friendly are the best words to describe our experience, and perfectly located too! Martijn and Patricia are kind, responsive and helpful and have made Mom's transition easy. I am confident we made the right choice!!
