Love this park. I have been going there since I was a child. The park is large and has walking trails throughout and it is so close to everything that makes St. Matthews wonderful. It is beautiful in every season, with the many trees and small wildlife. Always present are the ducks and geese that are so much a part of St. Matthews and that everyone loves to see and feed. An absolutely magical time at Brown Park is every holiday season when Light Up St. Matthews occurs. It is always the first weekend of December and is a wonderful event for families beginning the holiday season.

Excellent park, great walking paths with a lot to see. There are baby geese and ducks there right now and they LOVE cracked corn! If you plan on feeding the ducks or geese you can buy corn, cracked corn and bird food from the local Feeder's Supply for just a few dollars and it is significantly healthier for them!

Small park with several running path layouts with the longest one being approximately a mile long. Great place to take your kids as there is a small playground in the park as well as a creek running through it that houses ducks almost year-round. Dog friendly grounds. A handful of events hosted throughout the year including a trick or treat, Christmas lights and Easter hunt.

This is a little oasis on one side of St Matthews. It's surrounded by business & hospital districts but, as you're walking through, mostly the only evidence is the sight of a few apartment buildings and the sound of traffic. It's small, but filled with trees, plants, a stream, squirrels, bunnies and ducks that will almost beg for food. (Seriously. More than once when I've fed the ducks one has stood by my foot, hoping that's the place to get a little more, and pecked on my shoe if I've ignored her too long. I feed them thawed frozen peas or corn, small pieces of greens, oats, duck pellets when I can find them & whole grain bread. No white bread please, it's very very bad for them.) There are paved trails to walk (no bikes, skateboards, etc allowed) and distances are posted. I find it great for Zen walking.

It's a beautiful park and a wonderful place to take a walk in nature. A little close to the traffic nearby to be quite peaceful, but if you've spent your day at the nearby hospitals then this park is a welcome escape. It appears some idiots have recently been graffiti-ing profanity all over the place there, but they can't ruin my time with nature.
