Convenient and a good selection of vehicles. We needed a large van to shuttle folks over the weekend. Over all it was a great experience. It was a little difficult to find the car rental office within a big hotel but the vehicles were all well maintained and easy to locate. The only reason for 4 stars is the lack of parking for in-town rentals. If they had safe and well lit parking for in-town rentals free of charge it would be 5 stars. You can park in the hotel but not for free. I liked this location over the airport because it is easy in and easy out to the highways.
I forgot how rude and nasty Budget rental agents and supervisors were. But told reminded me why I haven’t rented from Budget in years! The agent with a flat and boring personality, barely greeted me as I walked into the offices and disturbing his personal cellphone time tucked away in the back office! When he finally came out the office to help, he never spoke his name and continued to never greet me. I gave him my credit card and ID upon checking my reservation, he stated “we don’t have the car you requested” and stared blankly at me! I then ask, “are there any vehicles” they agent handed me 2 sets of keys and told me to take myself to the parking lot and figured out which car I wanted. No escort or anything. When I returned, again off doing other things but assisting me! I explained I haven’t rented a car in a while and my old address my on file! He quickly swiped my card then looked at the screen and said, “this is a different car on file” I explain, I prepaid for the rental, he said “I’ll charge you the full amount here and you’ll have to call customers services for a return the funds. I asked the agent to call his supervisor, which he did 5 mins. When speaking to his manager, she requested “FaceTime” to handle this matter. I sat down to wait for them to explain the situation after they converse about it. After they finished chatting, he hangs up and take the next customer. I had to interrupt and ask for an update. The agent pointed to the wall and said call the supervisor. He still had my ID and credit card. I contacted the supervisor, while explain the situation and my frustration with being at this office over and hour told me to lower my voice. Then processed to tell me my credit card flagged as fraud and they couldn’t help me. I asked for her or another supervisor to please come out and help the agent. Her response was, “just give another form of payment” NEVER AGAIN
Honestly, the customer service at this location Alexandria-Hilton is great. However, my overall experience was not great this time. I spent over $300 for a rental that I was not happy with. I called into the 1800- customer service line prior to reserving a rental online. They stated that they had plenty of cars in my requested size available. When I arrived I was stuck with only two choices. The first car I entered, the service lights kept flashing, stating that it was time for an oil change and then the tire light kept coming on to state that the back tire need to be filled with air. I was already pressed on time, but I ran back upstairs to the office to let them know that I needed another option because of the car’s condition. They immediately gave me another car and stated that it was the only one left in the requested size. I mentioned another car that I saw, but was told it was reserved. I accepted the rental and went to the car and drove away. A couple minutes, I opened the back door of the rental and my eyes grew wide due to what I was viewing. The car was disgusting. The car was not clean at all. There was dirt everywhere, the carpet and seats had dirt and foot prints everywhere. The car was not cleaned. The front seats were dirty, there was hand prints all over the touch screen media. I was upset because you’d think that due to COVID, they wouldn’t let their customers drive away in a dirty car. I was already running late but decided to drive to the car wash to get it cleaned and sanitized. I couldn't let my baby niece get in a dirty car. I alerted customer service and they have not been helpful at all. I sent the images for proof as well as the car wash service statement on what I paid. They have yet to get back to me and assist further on all of my troubles. At this point I just want a full refund. This has been the most frustrating experiences. I just turned in my car a day earlier because I was so upset and did not want anything to do with the vehicle anymore.
I have rented cars from multiple car rental companies, never have I had such an experience as that with Budget at the Hilton Center in Alexandria Virginia. From renting out a car to some unknown customer under my account simply because they have the same last name as mine? Imagine that?! ... And then giving me the task of resolving that by asking me to contact corporate. To charging me 4 times the rate for an intermediate SUV under the so-called "mystery car" selection, to incompetent customer care and store agents who terminate calls on customers when they're being held to account for their mistakes, create a mess for the customers and leave customers with the tasks of cleaning up after the incompetent staff, to mismanaged maintenance cultures with their cars I had to switch cars 3 times during an interstate travel cos of the mechanical problems with their cars. This company may declare bankruptcy soon if they keep treating their customers like this. I can't imagine that I'm the only one who's had to suffer this terrible and terrifying service. Never again! Even if budget were the only car rental company in the world, I'd rather bike interstate than ever rent from them again.
If you want to borrow your child's car, then this is the place. No gas, the car smelled, tire pressure was low and it wasn't washed. The trunk didn't open. Don't expect a car ready to go from here. And they do not have a after hours drop off. Unprofessional car rental and even worse customer service. Never again.
This budget office was amazing. The customer service, the helpfulness, the timeliness. I would definitely rent again from this budget office.
Rented a 7seated. Showed up at 9am. No reception. Waited. 10 minutes later representative showed up. Some more waiting. 30 minutes from pick up time and still nothing. I picked up a car from previous location. In and out within 5 minutes. No parking spaces here. Small office. I was able to pick up a van after 50 minutes. The car was dirty. Staff did not inform me until I received the car.

Lydia is fantastic! She made the rental process very fast and painless and this location was a far more economical choice than renting from the airport. I will definitely rent from this location from now on when I am in the area. Thank you Lydia!
Functional car rental in hotel, convenient if you don't want to go to airport for car. Desk is just beyond gift shop. Comparison shop: rates are different from Avis's. Consider AARP and other discounts. Cheaper to reserve online and at least a week ahead.
