My partner who is a US w Sm/6 and myself US m L/36-38 took over 40 items including cashmere sweaters, designer jeans, leather coats- all name brand- and rare sneakers. They gave us $35 total for all of the items. They also made us sign a waiver that we were not allowed to have the items they did not take back. $35 is complete mockery for all of the items donated, especially since we were not given our other items back. We will not be shopping here nor do I it recommend others. There are plenty of second hand clothing stores that are actually designed to enrich the community and provide resources for those who want to be more environmentally and financially savvy, unfortunately Buffalo Exchange is not such a place.
Giving 5 stars because the staff are very friendly and helpful, but just a word of caution: they are not allowing you to try on clothing in-store, even slipping things over a t-shirt isn't allowed. The changing rooms are roped off. And on top of this, there's no real return policy you just get a gift card. So unless you know the exact fit of a brand name item you find, it's not worth the risk in my opinion. @Buffalo Exchange, most retailers are allowing folks to try on clothes again. Surface transmission is a very low risk vector for covid-19 transmission, but you do need to do more to limit in-store capacity. It was PACKED on a rainy Sunday afternoon. Just my $0.02.
I agree with the latest reviews. Having traveled across the country, I have bought and sold at several locations. This is by far the worst. The shelves are lined with old, stained, ripped clothing yet they pass up good clean unworn clothing. To test I brought in a versace shirt, Armani polo-never worn, and new Jean's, among several sweaters and old tees. They purchased 3 old tee shirts and pair shorts with a hole! They are too young and too busy having personal conversations to purchase. Further, look at how they dress. They look like a mishmash from the salvation army discount rack. How can anyone so out of touch with common styles purchase for a clothing store. The store itself is very dirty, dank, and goodwill looking. Actually, a goodwill is probably cleaner and better put together certainly won't be back.
Went here for the first time and loved it! The store is quite small and crowded but it’s surprisingly easy to navigate. They have all kinds of clothes, from daily wear to statement pieces and most of it is under $25. The fitting rooms are clean and most of the staff is friendly. The checkout for buying things goes really fast, selling things seems to take a while longer. I would also recommend taking a bag with you because they don’t have free bags.
I am glad I ignored many of the negative reviews and sold my used clothes at Buffalo Exchange. There were two very kind girls helping out and despite the lines getting long they had a great attitude. I brought two suitcases worth of clothes seriously, and they weren’t annoyed at all. Each item of clothing was briefly looked at, some were bought, many were returned to me. Despite other reviews expressing confusion about why the clothes were rejected - if I asked I was told exactly what they were looking for and why the item doesn’t fit. I would definitely recommend coming in as early as possible; I was the first person in and by the time I left there were at least four people in the selling line and many more in the buying line. I was trying to get rid of things so I didn’t buy anything but they keep the store very tidy; which probably makes it a reasonably pleasant experience for buyers as well.
I wish I can give 4. I have been going to Richmond VA and the staffs were super friendly and more spacious store. This store in DC, the staffs were friendly but I think it will improve a lot better if they set up customer services better and more faster efficient to serve customers. Like one staff focusing on the clothes to buy. Then the rest staffs focus on the cashier. Also I think the store should look other space that is more bigger. Overall, staffs was friendly. Just need to improve on the customer service system in the store.
I go in here almost once a week, and the staff are always super friendly and welcoming. It's hit or miss on whether you find something you like, but that's the nature of thrifting! Also, while the credit/cash returns on the garments I bring in could be a biiiit better, the staff seem to always take 90-95% of what I bring in . Buffalo Exchange is definitely a go to spot for anyone looking for lightly used fashion forward garments on a budget in the DC area!
I often notice they don’t buy plus size clothing. I love the store, however the options for plus size women are limited. I recent bought in pants that were brand new with tags. The buyer told me they weren’t looking for pants yet when I went to the plus size section of the store to my surprise NO PANTS over an 18. How can it be winter and you have no array of plus size pants that accommodate the plus size market. I think they need buyers with more of a marketing mindset.
Dropped clothes off here to sell, name brand stuff in good condition, some items new with tags, and they gave me $9 for it all and wouldn't even tell me what they bought! I get I signed a waiver, but how hard is it to give somebody a receipt for their sales and donations? Feel sort of like the staff lied to me, and definitely won't be shopping here anymore now that I know they make their money by ripping people off.
You can buy sell and trade apparel shoes and fashion accessories. Its great that they have different styles of fashion that is normally not sold in the DC area, but there items are to over priced to be used items. Basic they have a large quantity of fashion apparel, but low quality of items. I only go here to look for something unusual or when i want a deep discount on certain items.
