We really enjoyed our visit to Cafe Hollander. Maria was an excellent server - kind, friendly, and attentive. Food was very good. I think my favorite was the whipped feta dip we started with. I also enjoyed the creamy, flavorful mushroom soup. Our entrees were also good - standard burger, fries, mussels. The broth the mussels were cooked in was delicious, and the bread was perfectly crusty to dip. The only thing that detracted from our experience was our food came out not very hot, like it had sat in the kitchen too long after being prepared. But everything was delicious! Would definitely visit again. Can’t speak to the interior, but the patio was a nice setting to have lunch with plenty of shade under our umbrellas too.
This is a decent place. The location outside is wonderful. Wonderful alone and also with company. They have some good options for both kids and adults. The the menu when we went at 1:30 on Saturday was very heavily brunch food. Eggs, waffles, etc.. but they also have some cool burgers including a beet burger. I had a cappuccino and my son had a hot chocolate. Both great. Vegetarian options: Some great options. Salads, meatless burgers..even more if you eat eggs. Kid-friendliness: They have good choices for kids both brunch and lunch options. My 6yo was still a little hungry after finishing his food though. Parking: City street parking Wheelchair accessibility: Very accessible especially outside
Waitress supernice. We sat outdoors with the dog blocking the aisle and she never complained. He's a big dog so we couldn't help it. The salmon on herb toast light and refreshing. Tea served in a fancy clear glass kettle made me feel all fancy. Beautiful place. Multicultural...nice.
Home to one of my favorite burgers in town, the Sconnie. Whether it's brunch, lunch or dinner, it's a mainstay and love it. If you like your space during covid, I recommend this place. We always ask for seating upstairs so we can be spread out, and they're always willing to work with us.
Brunch menu is served until 3pm on Sundays. It's in a nice location, but the parking may be different for some. I enjoy the location in Mequon much more. It took about 40 minutes for the food to come after was ordered. My salad was more on the luke-warm side. The mussels were great in the sauce that they came in. Dietary restrictions: Gluten-free menu available
Went for brunch this morning. You can sit inside or out and because we have a pollen sufferer in our group we opted for inside. Outside was VERY full, but inside had hardly anyone due to how beautiful the weather was. Our server was very friendly, attentive, and personable. The food and mimosas were very tasty. I got the avocado, chicken, bacon wrap with fries. It was a visually sizable portion, yet very light with a small side of fries. Finished it all. About half our group ordered items that were too big and filling and thus took leftovers home. Everyone agreed all was delicious.
Cafe Hollander offers a delightful European-inspired breakfast experience. However, I feel this location in particular cuts a lot of corners on the quality of their ingredients. They also made my Bloody Mary wrong which is all premixed and very hard to do as a bartender myself lol. Our waiter was amazing we were seated in a beautiful location promptly. From now on I will make sure to go to the third ward location because I still love cafe Hollander!
Great meal! I got the hibiscus mimosa which was delicious. The salmon smorrebrod was our favorite of the three dishes we got- very delicious. The tomato bisque was also great. The uitsmijter croissant was also tasty, but a little soggy. Would definitely come again for both the food and the atmosphere!
I live in the neighborhood and I fairly often stop in for brunch with friends or appetizers at the bar. You can’t go wrong with their French toast or cheese curds! We often have Peter as our server, and he is always kind, welcoming, and checks in to make sure we have everything. Even last Thursday when it was getting busy he still made a point to check on us, and refill our waters!
So, I've been here before. But they are still just amazing. I changed my rating because of the service I get here every time. But this time, Chris was awesome. He gave me some good suggestions on the town, and gave great suggestions on the menu and beers. Because really, if you like Belgian beers with a side of amazing Sconnie food, this is the place. I will always have this place on the list to go every time I'm in Milwaukee. Great job guys, keep it comin and I will keep my leg hollow when I come in. Promise.
