The food was so good! The waitstaff is wonderful and personable. The atmosphere is quiet enough for conversation. The background music remains in the background. The colors used in the decor are calming. The perfect representation of New Orleans. Oh! And the prices are more than reasonable. It was a pleasant experience from beginning to end.
Delicious and delightful! Food was on point! Friday special of smothered turkey necks was perfection. Corn bread light as a feather. Both sweet potato and regular fries crispy and well seasoned. Staff was attentive and friendly, and we could hear each other talk even as the dining room filled up. Couldn't ask for anything more!Food: 5/5
Have been wanting to try this place for a long time especially considering their mission. Their hours of operation are a little difficult for the 9-5 time, but finally made it out. Everything was fresh to order. Staff were friendly. They have indoor seating, parking is street parking. The building vibe is loft style, with high ceilings which made the place feel spacious. It was a busy time however we were seated quickly. I think they put a lot of detail into the place. Really enjoyed the fried turkey necks and the sweet potato fries. Would go back for those.
When I say this food was so good! I had the salmon, collard greens, and macaroni and cheese! Not only is the food good but they’re a nonprofit that supports the youth in our city! Catch them for lunch Tuesday-Friday!Food: 5/5
Wow, blown away by our lunch here. We arrived at 1330 without a reservation and they managed to squeeze us in as the last table before the kitchen closed, it was definitely worth the 45 minute wait. Food was outstanding, everything from the fried turkey necks, fried Green Tomato sandwich, Gumbo, blackened Catfish. We loved everything. Unsweet tea was delicious and served with a slice of lemon just how I like it. Staff were so friendly, some of the best hospitality I've experienced in New Orleans. It was incredible value for money, most of the entrees were around 12 dollars. Already looking to return to work through more of the menu.
This is a must stop-in if you’re interested in eating great cooking and supporting a worthy cause. We had a great lunch here and had the friendliest server. Here’s an excerpt from their website: “Run as a non-profit workforce training program, the café prepares ambitious young adults for careers in the city’s celebrated hospitality industry. From red beans and rice, to catfish and po’ boys, we draw inspiration from the proud, vibrant Black history and cuisine of our city.” Check it out - you’ll be glad you did!
Everything is so good here - the food, atmosphere and especially the lovely folks working there.Food: 5/5
Wonderful and attentive staff. They made such delicious meals! I didn't feel rushed even though it was a very busy afternoon. Lucy was such a treat to have as our server. I devoured the La Catfish, blackened, with greens, mac and cheese, along with watermelon lemonade, and pineapple upside-down cake. Overall, Café Reconcile has an excellent training program for young people and we need more establishments like this around the country.
We visited creole-style restaurant twice in December 20th and 21st. Unlike regular restaurants, this is aiming at training students aw well as supporting community. This is the restaurant that served the most delicious dishes among ones we visited in New Orleans. Even in South Bay of San Francisco we currently live in, we can not find such a restaurant because most of restaurant detest complicated processes increasing costs.
This place is truly special! Heard about it from the NYTimes. Did a walk in and there was about a 30 minute wait. It was totally worth it. Their mission and community based drive is admirable. And the food - wow!!! Large portions, seasoned well. Big smiles from everyone eating around me in the restaurant as well. Had the fried catfish with crawfish sauce, mac & cheese and collard greens.
